if we claim to have fellowship 1 john 1

1 John 1:6-7 Walk in Light #244

Last week on my blog I shared 1 John 1:5 and this week I want to continue with 1 John 1:6-7 which says, “If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

These verse makes me think of the post I did a few weeks ago called, “What is Different About You?” How many people call themselves Christians or claim to share life with Christ, yet still walk in the darkness? Doesn’t that remind you of a lukewarm Christian? This verse says that people who are Christians yet walk in darkness are liars! They really are just fooling themselves. And notice the verse says walk; itย doesn’t mention just stumbling one time, this is referring to living a lifestyle of darkness.

Verse 7 speaks to the person who is choosing to walk in the light. We know from verse 5 God is light so those that walk in fellowship with him are also walking in the light. I love how this verse points out that it possible to walk in light. How many people do you know that are living in bondage to sin and darkness and think there is no other way? This verse proves them wrong! This should be me. This should be you! We shouldn’t be just calling ourselves Christians, but we should actually be living like Christ and walking in the light.

When you choose to walk in the light, fellowshipping with God and other believers, your life will look much different than the rest of the world. Not only that, but the blood of Christ will continue to wash you clean. So, do you know where you stand? Do you just call yourself a Christian, yet choose to continue to live in darkness or are you walking in light? What looks different about the way you live?

I was just listening to this little excerpt from something that was on social media and the person was talking about how your Creator created you to have skills and knowledge to do things, etc. Then she had said He created you (or She, whatever you believe). I do like how she was trying to accommodate everyone, however if YOUR belief is HE and GOD, then that’s what you need to preach. Don’t cater your talk b/c someone else might have a She that they worship to or whatever else. Does that make sense what I’m saying? I believe in Him, God, so I’ll say He and won’t acclimate or change or conform to someone else. I do want to respect others and not judge those who have a different belief, but you will know what my belief is in Jesus as our Savior and I will say HE/HIM.

Was that complete rambling or did it make sense? Thanks for posting again! ๐Ÿ™‚
