04 Feb 1 John 4:4 Overcome the World #259
Last week I shared about the dangers of false prophets from 1 John 4:1-3 and emphasized the importance of being rooted in the Word. 1 John 4:4 follows with, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
To remind you, 1 John 4:3 referenced the anti-christ and the evil in the world. It definitely wasn’t the most cheery passage but how encouraging is the truth that follows in verse 4? For Believers, the One in us, Jesus Christ, is greater than the evil in this word.
You are in a spiritual battle and I believe it is important you recognize that there is an enemy at play in your life. But, you don’t have to operate from a place of fear or defeat. The enemy doesn’t have to win any battles unless you give him the territory. Instead, Jesus Christ overcame the world and he now lives in you which means you too can overcome every obstacle you face. In addition, you get to operate from a place of victory.
Are you living as though the enemy has overcome or as though Jesus did? Are you a victim? Do you live by your feelings? Are you constantly negative? Are you always sick? Or are you a victor? Do you live according to the Word? Are you constantly positive? Are you healthy? The answers to those questions will dictate how you are currently living but in the case you are living as though the enemy has overcome, you don’t have to any longer. Jesus Christ paid for you to live a life of victory and it’s up to you too choose that life. What are you waiting for?
