27 Aug Don’t You Tell Me He Can’t Do It
“It will be impossible in this market.”
“You are wasting your money.”
“You will have to offer way over asking price.”
“There is no way you will find a house.”
The list of negative phrases spoken over us during the one year season we were house hunting was endless. From well-meaning friends to strangers in passing, if someone knew we were looking for a house, they would make sure to remind us just how impossible it would be to find one.
But, God.
Several weeks before we found our new house I told Colby, “everyone has been speaking death over us and telling us how impossible it will be, but don’t you tell me my God can’t do it! An impossible circumstance is the perfect opportunity for God to show up.”
The market might indicate there is no way, but the market does not have the final say, God does. The statistics might indicate there is no way, but statistics don’t have the final say, God does. Other people might indicate there is no way, but people don’t have the final say, God does.
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it.
It was deemed an “impossible situation” but He did it. Not only did the Father bring us a house but He went above and beyond what we could have asked or imagined.
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it.
A cancer diagnosis, barren womb, marriage on the rocks, an empty bank account, a worldwide pandemic. I’m convinced that an impossible situation is the greatest invitation for you to trust the Lord as you believe that He will work a miracle in your situation.
What impossible situation are you facing today? And who told you that He can’t do it? Is that what God has said over your situation or was it the economy, your bank account, the government, your doctor or someone else instead? In other words, as I recently shared in a podcast episode, “who told you that?” Who told you it was impossible? Who told you that it would never happen? Was it really God?
We have a God who loves to make a way when it looks like there is no way, but He won’t do it without us putting our trust in Him. If you are struggling to trust Him today, I encourage you to take a hold of God’s Word and declare it out over your situation. Worship and pray your way through. Cling to testimonies of His faithfulness! With God, absolutely nothing is impossible so my thoughts regarding whatever impossible situation you might be facing? Don’t you tell me He can’t do it!!
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Luke 1:37
“We humans make plans, but the Lord has the final word.” Proverbs 16:1
PS. If you missed the house testimony, it’s a wild one! I encourage you to listen to episode 106 of A Cup Full of Hope Podcast called New Beginnings or read my blog post here.
PPS. In addition, if you have not heard the song “Too Good To Not Believe” by Cody Barnes and Brandon Lake, I have included the song and a snippet of the lyrics below.
Too Good To Not Believe – Cody Carnes, Brandon Lake
You’re the wonder-working God
You’re the wonder-working God
All the miracles I’ve seen
Too good to not believe
You’re the wonder-working God
And You heal because You love
Oh, the miracles we’ll see
You’re too good to not believe
You’re the wonder-working God
You’re the wonder-working God
All the miracles I’ve seen
Too good to not believe
You’re the wonder-working God
And You heal because You love
Oh, the miracles we’ll see
You’re too good to not believe
Too good to not believe
Too good to not believe
After everything I’ve seen
You’re too good to not believe (I believe it)
Too good to not believe (Oh, I believe it)
Too good to not believe (Oh, You’re too good to not believe)
After everything I’ve seen (Oh, oh-oh)
Too good to not believe
And I’ve seen cancer disappear
I’ve seen metal plates dissolve
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
‘Cause I’ve seen real life resurrection
I’ve seen mental health restored
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
‘Cause I’ve seen families reunited
I’ve seen prodigals return
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
‘Cause I’ve seen troubled souls delivered
I’ve seen addicts finally free
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
Don’t you tell me He can’t do it
