James 5:13-16 – Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Last night we had the privilege of praying with the elders at our church. I came across this verse a few weeks ago and thought it would be a great opportunity to reach out to our church and see if meeting with the elders was an option. Thankfully they welcomed us. It was so awesome to share our story with the group of men and have them anoint us with oil and pray with us. They also shared two verses I had recently mediated on, James 5 (above) and 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. We feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church that is willing to join us on our journey of beating infertility. I don’t think either of us will ever forget meeting and praying with the elders at Northwest.
