Ephesians 6:11 Armor of God #239
Last week I shared on Ephesians 6:10 and today I want to continue with Ephesians 6:11 which says, “Put on God’s complete set of armor provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser.”
Let me quickly remind you that verse 10 reminds you that when you walk in life-union with Christ you will receive his strength, victory and power. That then brings us to verse 11. Notice verse 11 tells Believers to put on “God’s complete set of armor.” I will cover what the full armor includes in the next few weeks, but notice this verse doesn’t suggest putting on just a few pieces of the armor that God has provided, but the complete set. Some translations suggest to put on the “whole armor of God,” which drives the point that it needs to be in totality.
If you think about it, it would be foolish for a police man not to carry his bulletproof vest, gun, handcuffs, taser and radio, right? To prepare for battle it only makes sense that they use every tool that has been provided for them and the same holds true for you. It’s up to you to fully access every tool that God provided for you.
The second half of the verse goes on to say, “you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser.” The only time the enemy’s schemes will work is when you choose to partner up with him, which is honestly what many Christians do. If you are wondering why you have so much fear and sickness in your life, perhaps it’s time to pay attention to all the areas of your life that you have given free reign to the enemy. I talked about the danger of having open doors here and this post might help you recognize areas of your life that the enemy has a hold. The reality is if you choose to follow the Word and put on the complete set of armor, the enemy might try to fight against you, but he will never win.
Take some time to recognize the areas of your life that identify more with the enemy than they do Jesus. What areas of your life is the accuser currently winning the battles and what are you going to do about it? Remember God has provided every tool you need to face the battles you are up against and it’s your job to partner up with him and put on the complete set of armor, not just a few pieces.
