God Multiplies Gratitude
November naturally becomes a season of gratitude because of Thanksgiving. But, I’ve always been passionate that the message of being grateful should go way beyond one day or one month and instead should be something that is built into our DNA. Gratitude should be something we do daily.
I don’t think it is possible to be too grateful. Not just with your spouse, family members, co-workers or friends, but most importantly is taking time daily to thank God. Thank him for who he is. Thank him for what he has done. Thank him for what he is doing. Thank him for what he is going to do.
When you choose to thank God it removes the focus off of you and instead it puts it on him. Are you aware of how much you have to be thankful for? Your gratitude towards Father shouldn’t be dependent on your circumstances, but instead should be evident no matter what season you are in. Even if you are in at trial or you are waiting on something, you should be able to come of a minimum of 100 things that you have to be grateful for. But you know what else? God multiplies gratitude. He loves to bless a heart of thankfulness. And this is exactly what we see throughout scripture. There are so many examples of God multiplying gratitude, but I want to share two with you:
Matthew 15:36 says, “Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.” When Jesus gave thanks and broke the bread, not only did the 7 loaves and 2 fish multiply to feed all 4,000 but God gave them so much food that there were leftovers. Thankfulness ahead of time set God up to bless them in abundant ways.
John 11:41 says, “So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me.'” In this verse, Jesus thanks God. But the amazing part are in the verses that follow. The story continues and the miracle happens when Lazarus was raised from the dead. The gratitude they expressed exchanged death for life.
Remember gratitude is the password that will unlock your miracle. But God won’t just bring the miracle, he will multiply it too. When you worship him with praise and gratitude it will set him up to do abundantly more than you could ask or imagine. Don’t wait any longer, start praising God!
“Enter with the password: ‘Thank you!’ Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.” Psalm 100:4
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1
“Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever.” Psalm 118:29
