Hebrews 4:12 – Word of God #115
If you want to know why I have spent the last few years sharing verses on Mondays, Hebrews 4:12 might help explain. It says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword,it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
I share so many scriptures on the blog because just as this verse tells us, His Word is alive and active. The Bible is not just a collection of stories, but the Bible is the Word of God. It’s God’s truth and that is why it is so important that you know what it says. His Word brings power and life to each one of us when we spend time reading it.
The way to grow in your walk with the Lord is to spend time in His Word. Just as you would invest your time with a friend to grow your relationship, you must spend time in God’s Word to get to know Him more.Β The focus shouldn’t be on the knowledge of the Word, although that is important, but the focus as you read should instead be on your heart and relationship with Him!Β His Word isΒ sharper than any sword and will minister to you in all areas of your life. It will reveal what is in your heart and give you wisdom in every situation you are in.
God’s Word is life-changing. Not only does it discern what is within you, but His word reveals His will for you as well. He has given you all of Himself through His Word so make sure to spend time with Him by reading His word!

Posted at 11:28h, 07 DecemberI love Hebrews, too!! Oh, it is a DEEP book and just packed full of wisdom. When I was 12 years old, my dear, old-time minister Papaw came to live with us for the last 2 weeks of his life. Each day, Mom would go in to read the Bible to him, and she would ask him where he wanted her to read. Every day, his answer was the same…”Somewhere in Hebrews.” That began and influenced my deep love for this book. All of God’s Word is alive and so vital to our lives. We are SO very blessed to have it in its preserved state, and so many have given their lives in order to protect it and pass it down to us. It is precious to my soul, and I can’t get enough of it…and to think that THAT WORD became flesh and left the portals of glory to come down to this sin-darkened world to become one of us! The Living Word…Emmanuel…God with us! What a gift! So blessed to be able to worship and adore Him this Christmas season! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity…I just now had a chance to go over and enter on the last day of the contest. π

This verse in one of my favorites! I love taking part in discussion with my Bible study group because from the same passage each person can find so many different and true applications and points.

Posted at 13:30h, 07 DecemberThat verse always freaks me out to know it “judges the THOUGHTS…”… OUCH… so many times I try to look like a good Christian when in my mind, I’m punching someone in the face. God knows. Oops! π haha

Posted at 14:54h, 07 DecemberOh I just love this friend. I’ve been digging more and more into the Word lately. I think we, as Christians, are being called to draw nearer and closer, now more than ever.
I am always amazed at how the same scripture I read last week could mean something entirely different to me this week. God speaks to us so beautifully through it.
Thanks for sharing and God bless you my friend.

Posted at 12:41h, 08 DecemberYes! It is alive and always changing. It blows my mind how I can read the same scripture for years, skimming over it, not seeing too much depth, but then just when I need it, God opens my eyes and reveals a profound truth in it. He is so good!
