I Don't Want Your Advice - in due time blog

Medications. Essential Oils. Therapists. Special Water. Vitamins. Doctors. Snake Oil. Diets.

The list of “things” that have been suggested to us that we should try or eat or drink or whatever the case may be in order to help us get pregnant goes on and on and on and on and on some more.

When I reflect back at the past 6 years I am left a little astonished with the type of advice we have received. Honestly when you combine the amount of people who know our story because we have been so public and the amount of multi-level marketing products out there, there has been a lot of advice given. I have no doubt that if you are someone who is in a similar situation that you too can relate. It happens daily. It could be a text message, a phone call, an e-mail, a direct message on instagram or facebook. You name it, people will reach out with a way to share their “special method” with us that is guaranteed to bring us our babies.

Can I just give one example? I shared a recent post on instagram in regards to being “pregnant with hope.” After I shared this genuine message about our faith and hope, people still had the audacity to send direct messages similar to, “I saw your post. I have a guaranteed product that will work for you.” Really? Really?

What leaves me so shocked by it all is I could probably count on two hands the amount of advice we have received that is Biblical. Surely I can’t be the only one that is confused by this, right? A large majority of the people who have approached us with their method are Christians, yet none of those people have turned to the Word with their advice. How is that normal? How is this okay?

What if God’s people were as excited about his Word as they were about their “product?” What if they were as passionate about reaching out to us to give us Biblical advice, instead of the advice of their special method?

It leaves me speechless. And my Heavenly Father? I can’t imagine how frustrated he has become with the very people who call themselves Christians yet who are pursuing and trusting other methods more than they pursue and trust him.

At the end of the day it boggles my mind that out of every person that has reached out to me over the past 6 years only a few of those were actually to share the TRUTH. Everything else that we have been told is “guaranteed” to work has been a product or medication or person or what have you.

I desire to be a women of the Word and I hope whatever you are going through that if you were to ask me for advice, I would use the Word of God to give you advice. As for me? From now on, unless you have Biblical advice using the actual Word of God, I really don’t want your advice. Enough is enough. You can dabble in all your products all day long, but you know what is going to heal Colby and I? The truth that comes from the Word of God. I refuse to believe that the cross wasn’t enough. I refuse to believe that God needs a little extra “help.” I refuse to make a bigger spectacle of a product then I will of my Father! And I absolutely refuse to put anything above the Word! And even though you didn’t ask, do you want to know what my advice is for you? That you too would seek the truth from God’s Word over the things of this world.

“So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom.” Matthew 6:33

Rick Warren talked about the power of the breakthrough prayer a few months ago. It really opened my eyes because I realized that’s that what I did last year: I prayed. A few months later, after multiple doctors told us we couldn’t have children without intervention, we were pregnant. This is after IVF and all the meds and all the diets medical professionals recommended didn’t work.
That’s my infertility story in a nutshell, but truthfully, I’ve never believed more in the power of prayer because God gave us a baby when he wanted to, not on my timeline.

I’m sure it’s so frustrating to hear “advice” like this over and over. I love that you founded a biblical ministry to encourage and support women going through infertility.

Well, you know how I feel, sweet friend. My husband and I opted to totally and completely trust GOD without fertility drugs or procedures. GOD honored our faith and patience and total trust in Him, and in HIS time, He opened my very barren womb, and HE sent us a precious baby of our very own. When you trust God with all your heart, when you refuse human reasoning, when you swim upstream against the bullies and know-it-alls, when you choose to follow Jesus no matter how radical His path, HE will bless your obedience every single time. Blessings always follow wholehearted obedience to God. I don’t care one bit what people say of me. It doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. All I crave is GOD’s approval, and if people understand, fine. If they don’t, who cares? I don’t. His approval means everything. God did not send us our baby when we thought He should. We had to wait many years and go through many things, BUT when GOD’s timing was perfect, I found out I was pregnant, and God, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, did what we couldn’t and sent us our precious boy after 12 1/2 years of marriage. HE defied human and medical “wisdom,” and since we didn’t follow all of that advice and bullying, HE gets ALL 100% of the glory! He gest all the glory because there is NO other explanation other than GOD. I am SO thankful to be able to say that. Praise His amazing and wonderful name! He doesn’t need anyone’s help or opinion on how to create a Divine-intervention miracle. He is GOD, and He alone. Keep the faith, my sister. Just tune out the overbearing, obnoxious bullies and press on! I know you aren’t asking for my advice, and I sure don’t mean to sound like the others, but I just have to say this ~ TRUST GOD, press into Him like never before, stay the course, and keep the faith. Just like Christian in Pilgrim’s Progress, put your fingers in your ears (YES, even to the many “Christians” who are injecting their opinions that don’t line up with the Word of God), and run this race with all your might! Praying for you!

I agree with everything you’re saying here except the part about people trying to “help God” by using medicine and going to drs. In my opinion, it’s the same difference as a diabetic taking insulin. Not helping God, just doing what makes sense for their body. That said, I do NOT believe that drs and medicine are the way God chooses to heal some people. I do truly believe that he has called some to wait in faith for His divine healing and He will be faithful to His word. That’s just my 2 cents. 😉
