22 Jan Isaiah 55:11 Word Accomplishes Purpose #211
We got a downpour of rain yesterday in Dallas which was nice and refreshing. I love rain, as long as it doesn’t cancel my plans. I am sure you can understand that. During the downpour I was reminded of Isaiah 55:10 which says, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater.” Rain and snow come down and serve their purpose; they water the earth.
Just as rain and snow have purpose, God’s Word has purpose too. The following verse Isaiah 55:11 says “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Everything the Lord has spoken in scripture will accomplish the purpose God has created and desired for it to accomplish. And just as water on earth produces bud, God’s Word is the same; every word produces fruit.
Think of it this way: every word in the Bible has an assignment. There isn’t one word throughout scripture that is useless or wasteful because God has a reason behind every single word! Isn’t it amazing to think of the Word of God and how it’s carried power over all the years?
This truth might be hard to comprehend because of how many of us have been hurt by other people. Why? People will say things they don’t mean. They will make commitments and then not follow through, but God is the exact opposite; he keeps every promise he has made. If God has spoken it, he will make it happen. His words aren’t empty and mindless and no word he has spoken will return null, void or empty. Instead every word has purpose and power and will accomplish what God desired for each word to accomplish.
Does this encourage you today? What scripture are you waiting expectantly to see fulfilled?

Posted at 09:12h, 22 JanuaryI just had a conversation with my bible study ladies yesterday about how often I take the failures of people who let me down & pass that into God… So dumb. He NEVER fails

Posted at 09:41h, 22 JanuaryI love this reminder! What God says He will do, He does. You’re right that we as humans can be flaky at times, but God never is! Even though it might not happen as quickly as we’d like, we still have to TRUST that what He says goes!! 🙂

Posted at 09:57h, 24 JanuaryMeant to comment on this the other day. That same day I read this verse when reading through Isaiah on my own and for a third time in another devotional.. Guess God wants me to pay attention! So glad he is a God who keeps his word and is so faithful. ❤️
