James 1:12 Persevere Under Trials #207
If you are in a trial and facing a difficult situation you might consider yourself cursed. Perhaps unlucky. Maybe you think life is completely unfair. But you know what James 1:12 says? “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
James 1:12 declares that you are “blessed” when you persevere under trials. I also want to point out this verse says you are blessed not because you go through a trial, but because you persevere in a trial. Some translations use the word “endure” or “remain steadfast.” You are blessed when you choose to keep going, instead of giving up when trials come your way.
The “crown of life” this verse is referring to is the reward of eternal living; living with God forever. God has a long list of blessings for you when you endure all the difficulties life hands you; some you will receive here on earth and the remaining reward will be for you in heaven when you are with him.
Remember that God is not surprised by the trials you are facing. He wants you to stay faithful to him as you endure difficulties. Shift your mindset and instead of considering yourself cursed or unlucky, declare that you are blessed as you persevere through every trial you face. When trials come your way think of them as an opportunity to experience all the blessings God has for you as you make the decision to persevere through them all.
