Jesus Calling #17

I don’t know how long I have been reading the Jesus Calling devotional, and how many times I have repeatedly read some of the daily entries, but it continues to speak to my heart. I love this entry I have posted below – it is all about how our joy is never dependent on our circumstances (that would be called happiness), but when we have Jesus we can have joy, no matter what trial we are facing. If you haven’t read any of my other Jesus Calling posts or the book, remember this is from the perspective of Jesus speaking to us.

No matter what your circumstances may be, you can find Joy in My Presence (Psalm 21:6). On some days Joy is generously strewn along your life-path, glistening in the sunlight. On days like that, being content is as simple as breathing the next breath or taking the next step. Other days are overcast and gloomy; you feel the strain of the journey, which seems endless. Dull gray rocks greet your gaze and cause your feet to ache. Yet Joy is still attainable. Search for it as for hidden treasure (Proverbs 2:4).

Begin by remembering that I have created this day; it is not a chance occurrence. Recall that I am present with you whether you sense My Presence or not. Then, start talking with Me about whatever is on your mind. Rejoice in the fact that I understand you perfectly, and I know exactly what you are experiencing. As you continue communicating with Me, your mood will gradually lighten. Awareness of My marvelous companionship can infuse joy into the grayest day.

Yes, I wholeheartedly believe this! In my moments of greatest anxiety, I often repeat to myself “joy is now” over and over again, and it always helps. There truly is joy in every moment, in every breath. Life is beautiful!

It seriously amazes me how even though I’ve read them, it ALWAYS speak to me with what I’m needing when I’m needing it 🙂

This is so beautiful! And the things that really help us, should be read over and over again… We (or at least I) need to be reminded often sometimes so it is always good to go back. Thank you for sharing!
