Memory Monday – Week 70

I got Lasik surgery on Thursday and before my procedure, my friend Melanie called me to pray for me. While on the phone, she talked about ‘seeing’ with not only new physical eyes, but praying and believer forย new spiritual eyes as well.

As I think about what it means to ‘see’ without glasses or contacts, it makes me think of 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”ย  When we accept Jesus as our Savior and become a Christian, we are a new creation. We aren’t defined our judged by our past, but we are made new in Him. We are blessed with new spiritual eyes.

This verse says, ‘anyone’. It isn’t referring to a select group of people. It’s not limited to just some people, but the invitation is open to anyone. No matter what race, background, past, ethnic class, socioeconomic class, etc – you are invited to be a new creation.

God doesn’t want to stop at the new creation that happens when you follow Him. He is a God that continues to make all things new! Being a new creation doesn’t mean that we are perfect, but that we are changed. It’s a continual refining process. Keep seeking Jesus and allow him to continue to refine you to be more like Him – He will keep making all things new.

How did your Lasik go? I really want to get it done, but I’m kind of scared. I’d love to hear about it! Sending prayers for quick healing.

First off, I heart your friend Melanie for praying for you. What a sweet prayer! Secondly, I hope the surgery went well. I have heard amazing things about it, and wanted it myself, but wasn’t a candidate. A little jelly here! Will be awesome to have perfect vision sans glasses whenever you want, although you can rock some glasses like a sexy secretary, so maybe keep a pair for looks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Amen that God continues to make all things new – including us. I love that your friend had the insight to pray both for new physical eyes and for spiritual eyes. What a wonderful idea. Praying your surgery went very well, and that you see all He wants you to see.

I love this. I love that your friend called to pray with you. I love that she prayed for your physical AND spiritual eyes. I love how you took so much more away from that moment and shared it with us. This is beautiful.
