23 Mar Memory Monday – Week 88
It is so easy to get wrapped up in mourning and sorrow, and for us that is especially true over this past year. Jeremiah 31:13 has brought me so much comfort through all our trials, “I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.”
Jeremiah 31 is a promise of restoration. The nations of Israel faced tremendous difficulty, but in this verse God promises to bring gladness, comfort, and joy. We have that same promise today. As believers, we will face trials. All of us. Those trials don’t have to consume us because God promises us that He is with us during them. Does that mean that when we experience a trial or tragedy that everything will be transformed and happy overnight? Absolutely not, but I do think it means we don’t have to be consumed by grief, which is an easy trap to fall into.
The Lord wants to comfort you. He wants to bring restoration, and He exchanges our pain for joy. It might not feel like sunshine and rainbows instantly, but He will provide you with gladness, comfort, and joy when you seek Him, cry out to Him, and draw near to Him.

Posted at 09:38h, 23 MarchOh, how I have proven the reality and truth of your words! And I think every one of us grieves differently…we all need to give ourselves and one another grace and space to walk through the multi-faceted, often repeated, and sometimes over-lapping stages of grief. That precious hope that lies within us is surely an anchor to our souls, even in those moments that are so overwhelming, we can barely breathe. So thankful for your words today!

Posted at 10:01h, 23 MarchOur sermon two weeks ago was on trials. He quoted James chapter 1 where it says “When you encounter trials” and pointed out that it doesn’t say IF you encounter trial but WHEN. I found that encouraging that we are all going to encounter trial, but God is always there to help us there, and our steadfastness produces all good things in us if we allow God to continue working even when we don’t understand it. Continuing to pray for joy in the trial for you both, friend!
