Memory Monday – Week 97
Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”. I love the Passion Translation of this verse which says, “Wisdom is a gift from a generous God, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a living fountain of understanding within you.”
Wisdom is never going to be found unless we seek the Lord. While it’s wise to seek other believers and Godly counsel, we must put wisdom from the Lord above all. God’s word is always His will. Many times people say they don’t understand what God’s will is for them, but the reason might be because they don’t know His word. The best way to seek Him and know His will isn’t just to ask Him, but to spend time with Him and in His word.
Just as reflected in the passion translation wisdom is a gift from the Lord. He desires to guide us along the way and while He might not always reveal the big picture to us, He isn’t going to leave us in the dark. He will direct us when we ask for guidance.
The second part of the verse says that every word He speaks is full of truth and as said earlier the more we know and believe His word the more revelations we will receive. Every word He speaks gives us life. His word is a daily source of manna for us, which fills up spiritually. It’s full of knowledge and intended to help us better understand His will and purpose for us.
Wisdom, revelations, and understanding all come from God’s word. Instead of turning to the advice of a therapist, doctor, counselor, friend first – seek God’s word. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak new and fresh revelations of wisdom to you.

Posted at 08:31h, 06 JulyI am thankful for your post, I think we treat God’s word too casually. He will sustain us through the word. Blessings.

Posted at 08:58h, 06 JulyI have never heard of the Passion translation and after reading that verse I definitely want to look it up! I love more “modern” translations—it just makes the word even more so poetic to me somehow.

Posted at 09:53h, 06 JulySo true, Caroline. Church and godly friends are great, but if you don’t read God’s Word, you don’t give Him a chance to speak to you…and you don’t really know what it says. You just know what others say about it. We need to put on the armor of Truth. Love this.

Posted at 08:28h, 07 JulyThat verse is so true. I am learning that while I am reading the Old Testament, God has so much wisdom and He knows just what to say or teach you in your time of need 🙂

Posted at 18:45h, 07 JulyIt was SO refreshing to read this this week. Thank you! We often seek so many things in our prayers, instead of asking for wisdom.

Posted at 21:48h, 07 JulyWhat a wonderful scripture to share Caroline! Love this.
I’m participating in the Hello Mornings Bible study/challenge and we had to read Peter 1: 1-8 today. As I read your post, I was reminded of the scripture that stood out to me today:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Peter 1: 5
Our God is so great. If we ask Hom for wisdom He will give it to us.
Thanks for sharing.
