Proverbs 2:10-11 Follow Good Counsel #226
The past few weeks I have been sharing out of Proverbs 2. Up to this point, I have shared Proverbs 2:6-9 which says, “Wisdom is a gift from a generous God, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you. For the Lord has a hidden storehouse of wisdom made accessible to his godly lovers. He becomes your personal bodyguard as you follow his ways, protecting and guarding you as you choose what is right. Then you will discover all that is just, proper, and fair, and be empowered to make the right decisions as you walk into your destiny.”
Today I want to continue with Proverbs 2:10-11 which says, “When wisdom wins your heart and revelation breaks in, true pleasure enters your soul. If you choose to follow good counsel, divine design will watch over you and understanding will protect you from making poor choices.”
This verse starts out with “when wisdom wins your heart.” The only way wisdom can enter your heart is when you follow his ways. And when you do? “Revelation breaks in and true pleasure enters your soul.” When you truly follow Christ and study his Word there is no denying the wisdom you will receive. You can’t follow Christ and at the same time have a discontent soul. Instead, just as this verse says, you will experience true pleasure.
This verse points out that the key to wisdom is “following good counsel.” Have you paid much attention to what counsel you follow? Is it counsel from this world? Or is it Bible-believing, hope-filled counsel? If you choose the latter, counsel that is Christ-like, then “divine design” or as some translations say, “discretion” will protect you.
If you have read any of the recent blog posts on Proverbs 2, have you noticed the theme throughout? Proverbs 2 has reiterated the exact same thing over and over: when you follow God’s Word then you will understand what path to take and what decisions to make. Your will even be “protected from making poor choices.” If you are someone who doesn’t know what’s next for future, I can assure you that getting in the Word of God and spending time with your Heavenly Father will help you!
