Proverbs 4:20-22 God’s Words #138
Proverbs 4:23 is a verse many love and know, but today I am going to start a few verses prior to that in Proverbs 4:20-22 which says, “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”
Isn’t that such a powerful verse? This is a Word from the Lord. He wants us to pay attention to him and his Word because his Word brings life and health! The Passion Translation of Proverbs 4:21 says “fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit.” It doesn’t do good to just hear or read the Word of God. Whether you read the bible or something else, it’s important that you understand what you are reading, right? It’s like James 1:23, “For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like..” You need to make sure you do and obey what the Lord and His Word says. Don’t just glance at it and forget, but spend enough quality time in it that you understand it. And when you do? The Word of God will penetrate your heart.
Take time to listen to what God is saying to you. Not just through his Word, but through his voice too. Continue to fix your thoughts and mind on the Lord. Keep his Word close to your heart always. When you do, this will set you up to guard your heart because out of it flows the wellspring of life. Remember to spend time meditating on God’s Word because just as Proverbs 4:20 says, it brings healing, radiant health, and life to the very core of your being.

Posted at 09:53h, 13 JuneI had a conversation with a friend yesterday who is reading through the Bible this year but she said this year, she’s really sitting in it – not “just reading’ – & it is SUCH a difference, isn’t it?

Posted at 10:39h, 13 JuneGreat advice! So sad to me that so many Christians don’t take advantage of the Word and aren’t constantly in it and seeking God; they are missing out so greatly on wonderful healing and life!

Posted at 14:39h, 13 JuneYes, my verses for this year are Proverbs 4:25-27Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. As I hide his word in my heart. Thank you for reminding me of my focus this year.

Posted at 16:54h, 13 JuneTaking time to listen requires an intentional choice. It is choosing to believe God will speak. Expecting God to speak opens our ears to hear.
