Psalm 23:4 – God is Near #133

You might or might not be familiar with Psalm 23. Whether it’s your first time to read it or it’s one you have memorized, there is so much good content in it. Today I am sharing verse 4 from the Passion Translation which says “Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near. “

If you are currently in a trial or what might even feel like a path of darkness, God is not surprised by it one bit. His paths will take you through the “valley of deepest darkness” but the good news for you today is that He has already conquered fear, which means there is no reason to have fear in any aspect of your life. The path you are on isn’t going to stay dark forever. The light might come slowly or it might come quickly, but there will be light at the end of your difficult path.

No matter what you go through God will always remain close to you. This verse says He “leads me through it all the way.” He doesn’t lead you just a part of the way or half way, but He leads you until He has taken you to the other side.

God is your strength and peace. If you allow Him to be near to you, then you will have no reason to be lonely. Seek Him no matter what season you are in and He will comfort and guide you to get out of the deep darkness and onto the other side of the valley.

“…regardless of the season.” There are heartaches in every season, but how comforting to know God is right there, right beside us, sometimes “going before us and making the crooked places straight.”

I really like this translation, it reminds me of something similar I did with psalm 91 which helped me a lot.

I was just sitting here mending my *healed* ankle and have been reliving the moment all day and it got worse once I got home. Within the hour, I have said, “fear is real!” In regards to just walking across a room without hurting something else. But He is my peace and will be right by my side as I come back even stronger!!!

He leads us. But will we follow him. So hard when we are in it, but he is faithful.

So so good! Love how you broke it down. Very encouraging. Like you said, we have to allow Him to be near. And it’s amazing what transformation happens within when we do. Thanks for sharing!! -xx Anna
