06 Feb Psalm 4:8 I Will Live Unafraid #172
When you lay down at night, what overcomes you? Is it fear or anxiety? Is your mind weighed down with the unknown? Or are you able to rest in complete peace? Psalm 4:8 in the Passion Translation says, “Now I can lay down in peace and sleep comes at once, for no matter what happens, I will live unafraid.”
As a follower of Jesus, you have the privilege of living unafraid. God desires you to live in freedom and wants you to find true rest in him despite what is going on around you. His perfect love casts out all fear and there is no reason to live in fear, doubt or worry (1 John 4:18) because he is with you in every season.
So how can you sleep well and find meaningful rest when you are in a difficult season? When you put your hope in the Lord, then true rest isn’t found in the lack of difficult circumstances, but it’s found in God. He is your safety. He is your security. Despite what you are facing, nothing can take away the peace that is found in Christ and Christ alone.
The Lord will keep you safe and secure. He is your protection. You don’t have to wait until you are out of your trials to experience true peace. Choose to live unafraid knowing that no matter what happens, God is with you.

Posted at 15:03h, 07 AprilPsalm 4:8 “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” is one of my favourites, and another is “…for He gives to His beloved sleep.” I repeat these to myself as I’m falling asleep.
