Psalm 62:8 Trust God #165
Reading the Psalms will never get old. When I came across Psalm 62:8 yesterday it really spoke to me. Clearly I had already read it at some point because it was already underlined in my bible. The Passion Translation reads, “Join me, everyone! Trust only in God every moment! Tell him all your troubles and pour out your heart-longings to him. Believe me when I tell you – he will help you!”
Isn’t this such a beautiful verse of hope and encouragement? God’s presence is all around you and is truly all you need. His life is what will bring you strength. I love that this verse says “trust only.” Trust only in what? In God. Not in anyone or anything else. And don’t just trust in the good moments or the bad ones, but trust only in God in every single moment. Trust him always.
God not only wants you to trust him, but he wants you to pour out your heart to him too. He already knows every trial and trouble you are facing, but he desires for you to come to him and talk to him about it. The reason why? “He will help you.” God can help you whether you talk to him or not, but he can’t help you if you aren’t open to the idea. Think of a toddler. How often do they say, “I can do it.” Maybe that’s just my nieces and nephews, but after struggling and struggling they realize they can’t do it. Then they look up and ask for help. It would be so much easier if they put their stubbornness aside and asked for help to begin with.
Your relationship with God is the same way. Let go of the “I can do it” attitude. Put aside your stubbornness and pour out your heart to God. Let him know you need his help and trust him and him alone.

Posted at 20:59h, 05 DecemberThis is so true. It must be so frustrating to our dear Lord to stand there ready to help and watch us try so hard on our own. Too often we make prayer our last resort, instead of our first resource. Thank you for sharing, sweet friend. 🙂

Posted at 21:39h, 18 DecemberYes, he wants ut to trust him in every single moment! It does take a humble nature to come before him and truly trust him more than we trust ourselves or anyone else around us.
