Romans 5:10 Fully Reconciled #268
Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you have been following my series on Romans 5 but if you have missed any of the recent posts, you can check them out here. Today I want to focus on Romans 5:10 which says, “So if while we were still enemies, God fully reconciled us to himself through the death of his Son, then something greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace with God, and because we share in his resurrection life, how much more we will be rescued from sin’s dominion!”
Just to remind you, verse 9, which I shared last week, emphasized that through the blood of Jesus you have been made righteousness. Which means God fully reconciled himself through Jesus’s death on the cross while you were still an enemy! The footnotes in my Bible say the Greek verb for reconciled is “exchanged” which means your sin was exchanged for righteousness. And notice this verse says fully. You weren’t partially reconciled or somewhat, but you were fully reconciled.
I love how the verse goes on to say “something greater than friendship is ours.” If God loved you so much to send his son to die when you were enemies, can you imagine how much greater his love is for you now?
You get to share in the beautiful resurrection life! Of course, it first means dying to yourself, but what a gift to be rescued from sin’s dominion. This truth should change everything for you and my hope is it helps you realize there is an invitation not to just salvation, but an intimate friendship with the Father too!
