The Most Important Decision that Every Person Faces
While I do know some of the people who read this blog (because they comment or email) the majority of my audience is anonymous. Although I started this blog for infertility, I’m most passionate about writing about faith while in the middle of a trial or waiting. Of course, both of those topics apply to infertility, but so many of the verses and promises I post about refer to those who are believers.
I don’t want to go on without sharing how someone comes to know Jesus. I hate that it has to be through a post and not in person, but I have hopes (and am praying) that this post touches at least one person.
So what is this critical decision? We all have the choice to either accept God and the grace, salvation, and love He offers us, or we can choose to reject God and live life the way that we think is best.
You may or may not have heard of the Romans Road, but it walks through 5 truths in Romans (New Testament chapter of the bible) of why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and the results of salvation.
1 – Why We Need Salvation – Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Every person in the world has sinned and displeased God. It doesn’t matter how good of a person or rule-follower you are – you are just as guilty of sinning. We all need salvation because we all have sinned.
2 – The Consequences of Sin – Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, “
This tells us what the consequences are when we do sin. Our sin causes us to die, not just physically, but eternally too. The consequence of sin is death.
3 – How God Provided Salvation – Romans 5:8 -“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
Jesus died for our sins. His death paid the price for all of our sins.
4 – How We Can Receive Salvation – Romans 10:9-10,13 – “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved … For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Because Jesus died on our behalf, all we do is have to believe in Him. When we trust that His death paid for our sins and ask Him to be our Lord and Savior, we will be saved. Both salvation and forgiveness are given to anyone who trusts and believes in Him. We receive salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
5 – The Results of Salvation – Romans 5:1 & 8:1 – Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Because of Jesus’ death, even though we continue to sin, we will never be condemned for our sins. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Nothing about a relationships with Jesus has to do with what you HAVE or HAVEN’T done. It’s not about works, but about grace and faith. The truth is Jesus is the only perfect person. All you have to do to be in a personal relationship with Jesus (become a Christian, a believer, saved – however you want to word it) is admit you are a sinner, believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins, repent from your sins and your former life, and ask Him to come into your life to be your savior. An example prayer would be:
Dear Lord, I admit that I am a sinner. I have made many mistakes during my life. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. I come to you now and ask you to come into my life and be my Savior. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. Amen.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
If you followed those steps and prayed that prayer you are now a believer in Christ! It’s the best and most important thing you could ever do! I promise that God will completely transform your life, just as He has done to mine. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you will cruise through life and it’s going to be full of flowers and rainbows, but He does promise that He will be with you during the storms! It has nothing to do with religion or being ‘religious’, but has everything to do with a personal relationship with Him
I would love to hear from you by comment or email if you accepted Jesus today – It would bring me so much joy to know and to journey with you in doing life together and praying for you! There are a million more verses I would love to share, but for the sake of keeping it short, I’ll have them on hand for anyone who wants to know more. Blessings!
