Romans 5:1 Justified by Faith #261

Romans 5:1

This might be hard to believe, but I am transitioning out of 1 John. I don’t know how many months I shared from there, but today I am switching over to Romans.I am starting with Romans 5:1 which says, “Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us.

Wow! I will be sharing more about this soon but I want to remind you, you are no longer a sinner and you are now a saint in Christ Jesus. It is by grace you have been saved and your faith in him that you have become righteous. And just as Romans 5:1 says, flawless in his eyes. Can you imagine if you saw yourself how God saw you? Flawless!

I love that some translations of this verse say, “since we have been justified through faith.” God is the one who has declared your righteousness because he is a grace-filled Father. It wasn’t anything you did to deserve it, but you have been made right through him.

The last part of Romans 5:1 says, “we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God.” Can I get an amen? The footnotes in my Bible say the Greek word for peace is “eirene” which means “to join.” When you receive Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are joined together with him, which allows you to enjoy true and lasting peace. You don’t have to wait to get to heaven to receive it, it’s yours now.

Because of what Jesus did for you on the cross, your sin was exchanged for his righteousness. You have been made flawless in his eyes. But are you living that way? It’s time to accept the grace that has been given to you and live in the lasting peace that Jesus paid the ultimate price for you to receive.
