13 Nov Step of Faith
What does faith mean to you? I think if I conducted a survey the answer would vary between most people, but faith rooted in God’s word means you make decisions based on what God says prior to what He does. Faith is when you operate on an action before you see it. Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.”
Faith is waiting actively and preparing yourself for the fulfillment of God’s promises even when nothing in the natural points you to them happening. A few years ago I cleaned out the nursery and after putting it off for awhile, I thought the next natural step would be to paint the nursery. So, a few months ago I asked for opinions for paint colors on instagram and facebook.
Months later and we finally purchased the paint (modern gray from Sherwin Williams for those who voted) and recently Colby painted the nursery. We are doing as much as we can now to get ready for what our future will bring. No, nothing in the natural has indicated we will get pregnant anytime soon, but acting upon the unseen is exactly what faith is! We are believing the Lord for a supernatural miracle and we want to prepare as much as we can for the promises that will come later.
What are you waiting for? Are you acting in faith while you wait? If you are believing in faith for a baby, what are you doing in action to prepare for being a parent? Are you getting a nursery ready? Paying off debt and saving for the new baby purchases you will have? Discussing names with your spouse? Eating right and taking care of your body? The list could go on and on and doesn’t just apply to a baby. It could be a spouse, a house, a new job, financial breakthrough, healing, a restored relationship, etc. If you are asking and believing for something from the Lord take a leap of faith while waiting. Hebrews 11:6 declares “that without faith it is impossible to please God.” Don’t let your fear of failure keep you from taking a step of faith and pleasing the Lord.
“Faith is acting like it is so, even when it is not so, in order that it might be so, simply because God said so.” – Tony Evans

Posted at 06:20h, 13 NovemberWhat an encouraging word, Caroline! Some of the things God has led us to do while waiting for our breakthrough would seem so silly to others, but it is all about faith in HIM and HIS promises. Abraham had no precedent to look back to, as you and I do. Yet, he stepped forward and followed the radical path God had carved for him, with nothing to stand on but a promise! I love that you painted the baby’s room!! You are calling those things which are not as though they are!!!! Just like Abraham. Bold, audacious faith…strong enough to move the mountains in our lives!!

Posted at 07:38h, 13 NovemberI love this perspective on faith. Preparing and being prepared for what God says He will do or what we believe He will do before it happens. This is my first time on your blog and it’s beautiful!! Thank you for your transparency.
Moving forward in my life today in faith!!

Posted at 07:45h, 13 NovemberI absolutely love this challenge. Sometimes I do not step out of faith to do something. It’s definitely been something that has been laying on my heart.

Posted at 08:56h, 13 NovemberLove this! Acting in faith is actually sort of therapeutic to me. Less stress on my shoulders when I just believe he will not let me fall no matter the circumstances.

Posted at 10:40h, 13 NovemberI feel like a lot of what I’ve been doing lately is stepping in faith. We have some big life decisions coming up and I just have to trust that God knows what’s right for us. Faith all the way!

Posted at 11:05h, 13 NovemberActively waiting- what a difficult, but important concept!
We’d always felt that living out on a farm would be the best thing for our future children and for us as parents, too- and we made that big (BIG) transition to a new home and new property and 21 acres of land this year! We’re so blessed by it already!

Posted at 11:14h, 13 NovemberWhat a great post! Caroline, you have a way with words that just make everything make a little bit more sense! I posted today about my weightloss journey and literally I light just went off in my head! I haven’t put faith in the equation. You my dear are probably an answer to some unsaid prayers!!

Posted at 11:32h, 13 NovemberLove this point! When I was waiting before getting pregnant with my first, I found a maternity shirt on sale and bought it, praying I would get to wear it soon. And now we are looking at moving hopefully in the next year, so our step of faith is getting our house ready to sell even though we can’t move yet!

Posted at 11:45h, 13 Novemberoh yes! I have a closet full of baby goodies, a crib purchased and put together, and a dresser that will serve as a baby changing table (still needs refinishing). Hopefully after the holidays I will get to decorating 🙂 Thanks for sharing love! xo

Posted at 12:02h, 13 NovemberI think you bring up so many wonderful points. I also had my hubby paint our nursery last year as I love being able to plan and have stuff ready for when the time really does come. xo

Posted at 19:17h, 13 NovemberEach time I read about your nursery I’m reminded about the beginning of Isaiah 54. I love that you are not just waiting in faith, but walking in it.

Posted at 19:34h, 13 NovemberThis is great, but a tad convicting. What does it say about me that I’m turning our would-be nursery into my personal walk in closet? Lol. Really, it’s because I know we are moving when our year is up, and I thought I’d have fun with it in the interim BUT, I love the word pictures in my head with actively waiting. I feel defeated way too easily, and too often!

Posted at 21:53h, 13 Novemberyou are an encourager. 🙂 Sometimes the wait is waiting to living in joy while waiting, sometimes the wait is for our perfecting, for the perfecting o the circumstance God wants, but always the wait is for a purpose. 🙂 ((hugs))

Posted at 07:34h, 14 NovemberI needed to read this post today. I try to walk in faith everyday. However, most days I’m trying to use my own strength to make things happen instead of taking rest in knowing that God is working on my behalf and all things will come in due time.

Posted at 08:22h, 14 NovemberAmen, friend!
It’s neat and encouraging to see you walk in faith. I also want to see more pictures of your nursery =)

Posted at 13:29h, 14 NovemberThis is so encouraging! First we must trust God that His plan is good and He will give us the faith to move forward with His Guidance.

Posted at 16:58h, 14 NovemberI love your faith! We did much the same thing and ended up waiting several more years. I don’t regret having faith because it did all turn out perfectly in God’s perfect timing. I wish that in the mean time I had let my husband have the room for his guitars because he would have really enjoyed it. Your husband may already have space somewhere though! I also wish I had enjoyed more of the waiting time instead of worrying so much. I pray you are able to find joy in your wait!

Posted at 21:14h, 14 NovemberWe had Ricky Bolton speak at our church and he said Faith is “Acting like it is, even though it’s not, in hopes that it might be.”

Posted at 22:34h, 15 November” but faith rooted in God’s word means you make decisions based on what God says prior to what He does.” These words were so encouraging to me this evening! My husband recently transitioned from pastor to church-planter, and we are having to trust the Lord for some big things right now. I pray the Lord blesses your faith in His promises. 🙂
