The Power of the Blood

The Power of the Blood

Do you understand just how powerful the blood of Jesus is?

I truly believe if Christians had a revelation of what happened on the cross, then the way they lived would be much different. Although many just recognize the blood once a year on Good Friday or perhaps every so often at church during communion, the reality is the power of the blood goes way beyond just one day or a monthly routine.

I myself have had a deeper understanding of what the blood of Jesus means for me. And today I want to share some scripture in hopes it helps you understand just how powerful the blood is.

First I want to tell you, my revelation just skims the surface and therefore the scriptures I am sharing with you is just a small subset. I could spend months and months working on a post like this and still not cover it all. My hopes with a brief post like this is it opens up your eyes, even if just a little, to just how powerful the blood of Christ is.

Here are scriptures that stood out as I have been in the Word:

“For in the Son all our sins are canceled and we have the release of redemption through his very blood.” Colossians 1:14

“And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himself—back to its original intent, restored to innocence again!” Colossians 1:20

“Yet look at you now! Everything is new! Although you were once distant and far away from God, now you have been brought delightfully close to him through the sacred blood of Jesus—you have actually been united to Christ!” Ephesians 2:13

“And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes us to come right into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm—boldly and with no hesitation.” Hebrews 10:19

But if we keep living in the pure light that surrounds him, we share unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7-9

“They conquered him completely through the blood of the Lamb and the powerful word of his testimony.”  Revelation 12:11

“Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his!” Colossians 2:15

“For this is the blood that seals the new covenant. It will be poured out for many for the complete forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:28

Jesus replied to them, “Listen to this eternal truth: Unless you eat the body of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have eternal life. Eternal life comes to the one who eats my body and drinks my blood, and I will raise him up in the last day. For my body is real food for your spirit and my blood is real drink. The one who eats my body and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him.” John 6:53-56

As displayed in the above scriptures, the blood canceled and cleansed your sins, reconciled and restored you back to Father God, united you to Christ and sealed you to the new covenant.

And although I don’t have the verses listed for the following, the blood also provided you peace, purged your conscience, gave you boldness to enter into the Holy place, enabled you to overcome the devil, provided propitiation, righteousness, justification, remission, sanctification, eternal redemption, mercy, deliverance, and healing (taken from this commentary).

Wow!!! There are no amount of words that can properly summarize the depth of the scriptures above but I want to point out that the Father bought you and I through the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood is what changed everything and it was shed because Father God loves you and I so much. The blood was shed so we could enter a relationship with him. There is no amount of human effort that could have paid the price; the blood was a gift from the Father.

In summary:

The blood of Jesus changed everything.

Everything is under the blood of Jesus.

There is nothing you have to add to the blood of Jesus.

The blood of Jesus covered all sin and sickness.

The works of the enemy was destroyed by the blood of Jesus.

The blood was a gift from the Father.

The blood was the price paid so that God could enter into a relationship with you and I.

And these truths? These scriptures I shared above? They are the reason I have decided to partake in communion daily. They are the reason everything has changed for me and the crazy thing to me is the revelation I have now on the power of the blood is just a fraction of what I know I will have in the future as I continue to renew my mind with the truth of these scriptures.

If you are someone who doesn’t know a thing about what Jesus did for you on the cross or perhaps you do and you just thought it was to pay for your ticket to heaven, then I want to encourage you to read and meditate on the scriptures above.

You can’t read those scriptures above and stay the same. In addition, as you are in the Word I encourage you to pay attention to the 10’s to 100’s of other scriptures which reference the power of the blood that weren’t included above.

Truly, the blood is powerful and as Christians we must understand that the blood changed everything, absolutely everything for us!

Unfortunately, we overlook and skim through Scriptures without realizing the power of the words in the Word of God! Great post! Thank you for sharing.
