Wait Confidently – Micah 7:7 #114

As Advent began yesterday, I started reading this devotional by Louie Giglio. The first verse when I opened the book was Micah 7:7 which says, “As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.”

The context of this chapter is not super uplifting. Actually it is full of gloom. In Micah 7, the people and the society in Israel were corrupt, but God was still present and promised to lead the people out of all the darkness they were facing and into His light. Despite the corruption that was going on, Micah turned to the Lord and was full of faith. In verse 7 he proclaimed that he would wait upon the Lord. Micah knew that God would not only hear his request, but that He would save him too.

This promise isn’t just for Micah, but it is for you as well. God will bring you through your trial. Micah understood that God was hearing his prayers and at the right time the Lord would save him just as He will for you. Your season might feel corrupt right now, but God is with you. He sees and knows your pain.

Trust that God will give you His strength while waiting. Look to Him for help and wait confidently and expectantly that not only does He hear your prayers and your cries, but that He will answer them too. At just the perfect time, He will deliver you from any pain you might be facing.

I just see so much hurt & pain right now in the world & in friend’s lives. I needed this reminder so I can share with them… where would we be without Him near us.

I find so much comfort in those Waiting Times- where I might be struggling for answers and trying to find what I can do in my own power to change a circumstance- simply stopping and knowing that God is holding me. His plans are GREATER than mine! The battle belongs to Him, and I am told so many times not to worry, and not to fear. He is my champion. He has things in store for me that I cannot see with my human sight, and I must simply trust. Otherwise, if I run ahead, I’ll miss out.
Waiting on the Lord… He’s never let me down. 🙂

Amen, Caroline. As I look back on my life I see how God was always setting the table for me. It was always in it’s time. There is a special place in my heart for Micah, it is Micah 6:8 that captured my imagination as a young adult and became are the words I live by:

I have several friends that are in that in-between season. They’re waiting on God to complete what He started, and it’s hard! But their faith is growing before my eyes, and that’s such a wonderful thing to see.

Thank you for this reminder! Our season of waiting may be different (I’m 36 and still single) but the faith it takes to lean into God’s timing is the same. Praying for you!

The waiting is so difficult, but once you come out on the other side, you will be stronger for it.

Waiting is very difficult but it’s fruits are beautiful. I have been there in other areas of my life and at the end i can say it was worth the wait.
