19 Mar What Will Your Life Look Like After COVID-19?
If there is one thing people all across the world would agree on it’s that COVID-19 is affecting everyone. Even if you live in an area where it hasn’t quite hit yet, you have probably in some way been affected. Events have been cancelled, employees have been laid off, the stock market has gone down, schools have closed and life as we know it is different than most of us have ever experienced before.
I can’t help but think what life will look like after COVID-19. There are so many unknowns, things out of our control, like the stock market and the economy. Yet I find myself focusing on the one thing I can control during this timeframe, however long it is, and that is me.
I have been presented an opportunity to make the most of the next few weeks and/or months. And although this season is new territory for all of us, I truly believe we can come out stronger and more mature in our faith. I don’t just believe we can, I believe we are supposed to.
I can’t think of another trial or crisis in my lifetime where the whole world has been given the same opportunity. Often times when disaster strikes it’s in a certain region or area. But COVID-19? It has had a global impact which means you have been given the same opportunity too.
Just like with every trial each of us face, we have two options: We can choose to press in and use this time to grow closer to the Lord and look more like Him on the other side of this season or we can run the other direction, distancing ourselves from Him instead.
There are decisions you and I get to make each and every day that will determine the outcome of how we look on the other side of this crisis:
We can fill our mind with junk or fill it with the truth from God’s Word.
We can choose to find the joy in every day or complain about everything going wrong.
We can be open to who God wants to be for us in this season or we can shut Him out completely.
We can waste away the time or make the most of it.
We can take time to invite the Father into healing the places of our hearts that are broken or we can spend no time with Him at all.
We can spend quality time with those we are quarantined with or let offense and unforgiveness continue to divide us.
What will your life look like on the otherwise of this virus? I know you can’t answer the question in regards to your employment or bank account, so maybe I should ask this way: what will you look like on the other side of COVID-19? Will you be stronger and more resilient? Will you look more like Christ?
You are the only one responsible for how you answer that question. It’s not up to your employer or spouse. And it’s not up to God either. The choice to make the most of this season is up to you. My encouragement? Don’t miss the opportunity in front of you to look more like Him on the other side of COVID-19!
