Who Does God Want to Be for You?

Who Does God Want to Be For You - in due time blog

More than 5 years ago I heard Graham Cooke ask a question that has not left my mind since.

“Who does God want to be for you?”

It seems like such a simple question. And it is. But it has also brought such a beautiful perspective to every season of my life.

God wants to be someone for you today, but who you need Him to be today might be different than who you needed Him to be yesterday or who you need Him to be tomorrow. And who I need God to be right now is different than who you need God to be.

For example, if you have just been diagnosed with cancer, you might need God to reveal Himself to you as Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals.

If you just lost your job and therefore have no income, you might need God to reveal Himself to you as Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides.

If you have been overwhelmed with a lot of anxiety or fear, you might need God to reveal Himself to you as Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord who is peace.

God wants to reveal Himself to you and every trial you face is another opportunity to see Him in a new light. It’s an invitation to see a new dimension of Him, that has never been revealed to you before. Isn’t that beautiful?

Your trials and hardships will change when you view them as an invitation to experience a new side of the Father you have never yet gotten to see before. When you approach difficulties this way, they no longer because daunting, but they become a delight.

I believe the season we are in right now, with this virus, is so unique to what any of us have experienced before. And yet, it’s another opportunity to see another beautiful facet of our Father. The one who meets us in our homes and shows up as the person we need Him to be.

So what is it that you need? Wisdom? Provision? Healing? Peace? Restoration? Comfort?

Invite Father God in. Let Him be the very thing you need today because that is what He wants to do for you.

    Hi Caroline,
What a beautiful and insightful blog post. Thinking of. God in this way is an interesting thought process. It allows one relationship to grow deeper with God each day! Drawing yourself closer knowing God is exactly who and what you need in each trail! For my current situation, God is the God of peace for me, we are pregnant after our miscarriage and I’m praying that He allows this little one to continue to grow and stick around 🙏
