Who God Says I am

Who God Says I Am

Who God Says I am

Multiple situations over the past month have motivated me to write this post. Every day, or close to every day, I try to share a word of encouragement over on my instagram stories. 90% of the time when I share, I look like a hot mess meaning that I am in my pajamas, no make-up, unbrushed hair, or quite often have just finished a work out. Well last week I was called out by a friend after something I shared.

That something? I didn’t even realize I did this, but before sharing the word of encouragement I said “I am so sorry y’all have to see me like this.” And a friend responded and reminded me that I have should not apologize for how I look. She reminded me that I am made in God’s image and that I am beautiful just the way I am.

Is that a truth you need to hear today? Let me continue by sharing that I have seen so much shaming on social media lately. There are so many hateful comments going around. People are so disrespectful of other people.

Add in a hard season, like infertility, where many woman are on medication or dealing with side effects of an imbalance of hormones and it doesn’t take long before the lies start to creep in. “I am not good enough. I am too fat. I am ugly. I have too many wrinkles. My grey hairs are showing. No one loves me.”

We have all thought them. We have all believed them. But who needs to be reminded that your identity should always be found in Christ? Not in what you do for a living. Not in your financial situation. Not in how many kids you do or don’t have or what size bra you wear or what color your skin is or how fast you can run a mile.

But your identity needs to be rooted in Jesus Christ and him alone.

So, what if we all viewed ourselves as God viewed us? What if we believed we are who God says we are?

I have put together a list of who God says you are. You know what? You might not feel like any of these things are true, but God’s Word is always truth. So I encourage you to print these off and declare them over yourself and just as my friend reminded me, I am reminding you: you are beautiful just the way you are and it’s time to start speaking life and truth over yourself every day.

??????Love this! It’s something I’ve been trying to think on lately too. Love the list. Thank you! PS You’re beautiful. When you shared the video of being in the sun/son and the sun hit your face it made the filter go away for a minute and I actually thought that was a pretty powerful thing like when God shines on us who we are is enough and we are beautiful just as we are. And I think you are too, Friend. Thanks for these encouraging words.
