Whom Shall I Fear

This post has been in my draft folder for months now (along with many other posts) and as I was at my Bible Study on Wednesday over Hebrews and the discussion of angels came up, I was reminded of this song.

I’ve always been a big Chris Tomlin fan and once I heard this song, I had to download it. Much like the Let Hope In song, this too has such a beautiful story. I think I understand and appreciate the song even more after reading Hebrews 1.

This world is filled with fear; barrenness, economy, relationships, cancer, anxiety, doubt – it affects all people. In the midst of whatever trial you are going through this song is a great reminder that nothing can be formed against us. We have a God of angel armies always by our side. The Lord will deliver us because He is our victor and He is the one who reigns forever. Amen!

Whom Shall I Fear?

You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light

Whom shall I fear

You crush the enemy
Underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield
Though troubles linger still

Whom shall I fear

I know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

My strength is in Your name
For You alone can save
You will deliver me
Yours is the victory

Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear

And nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in Your hands
I’m holding on to Your promises

You are faithful
You are faithful
You are faithful

The God of angel armies
Is always by my side

I’m not a Chris Tomlin song but I do love this song! Because if God is for us than who can be against us? Isn’t it amazing to know that the God of Abraham is still unchanging today?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me
    Psalm 139:7-10

I love the picture that God is fighting for us. With Him on our side, who shall we fear? Thank you for this beautiful reminder and some wonderful Chris Tomlin 🙂

I absolutely love this song. I almost got to see Chris Tomlin in concert a few years ago. Thank you for sharing.

I missed this post somehow (er–maybe it got buried in my inbox when I didn’t check my mail for a few days. Oops. It was there next to my gas bill. I should probably pay that…). Anyway- I LOVE this song. I heard it once on the radio and it was one of those songs I hoped would come on every time I turned the radio on. It eluded me after that first time for a couple of weeks, but finally I heard it again. And again. And again. And I find myself singing it to myself in difficult moments and good ones. It reminds me that I have the whole force of God’s great a mighty power standing behind me, protecting me from any attack. Love!
