10 Jul God’s Already Given You Everything You Need
As I have shared before, one of my favorite things about traveling or working out is how much I hear from God when I’m in the midst of either. In addition, I think there are so many parallels between running a race or climbing a mountain and my journey with Christ.
A few weeks ago I went to the gym to swim a few laps. It had been several months since I had done so and for the most part, just like every time, I dreaded the thought of getting in the pool. However, knowing I have a race in just a few weeks, I forced myself to go.
This swim was different than prior ones as a friend told me the Fitbit Versa watch I have been wearing for almost a year has a swimming function on it that enables me to track my workout. I couldn’t believe it! I didn’t even realize I could get my watch wet.
Sure enough, I kept my watch on for the first time during a swim workout and instead of dread, my workout was met with motivation. I always try to track the distance, but the monotony of the back-and-forth makes it very difficult for me to properly keep track. But this time? I was able to look down at my wrist and know exactly the distance I had covered and the time I had been swimming.
Before I knew it, I had completed 1 mile, which was probably 2x the distance I would have covered without the motivation of my watch. I can say that with assurance because the 4-5 times I have swam in 2019, I didn’t last more than 10-15 minutes.
It wasn’t but just a few seconds into my swim when the Father started speaking to me. “Caroline, you have been wearing this watch the whole time. You had been given the tool you needed to train for battle and not only had you been given the tool, but it was in fact, attached to you day and night.” He proceeded to go on-and-on very sweetly telling me that I had what I needed the whole time. He also pointed out how similar my spiritual walk is too.
Do you realize you have also been given absolutely every tool you need? God has gone before you to provide every single thing. He has done all the work, which is why He cried out, “it is finished” (John 19:30). Jesus isn’t still working; He is now seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19)
Are you in the middle of a health crisis? Jesus already paid for your healing! Do you need strategy with your job hunt? God sent His Holy Spirit to guide you. Do you desire to overcome your fear and anxiety? Father has already sent His love so you don’t have to live another day full of fear. Do you need guidance? God gave you His Word to provide you the wisdom you need. Did you mess-up big time? God already forgave all your sins!
We as Christians will continue to perish if we do not realize we have already been given everything we need. You might be wondering, “how do I know what I have?” Well that is a great question! The way you will understand the tools, armor, promises and gifts you have already been given is by opening up reading the Word!
So why I am telling you this? Because my friend had to tell me about my watch. In all honesty she shouldn’t have had to. Instead, I should have read the manual. I should have taken the time and made it a priority to do so and if I had? I would have never once missed the opportunity of training properly for the races I have been participating in. I would have been much better equipped and prepared.
Can you relate? You too might be unprepared to face the battles you are in because you don’t even realize what you already have. Just like my friend did for me, I hope to gently remind you that you have everything you need to run the race that is set before you. You have every tool you need to cross the finish line. God has already gone before you to provide everything you could possibly ever need. Don’t make the mistake I did and miss out on what has already been given to you!
