Moms in the Making Renew Her Recipient

I imagine I will have so many blog posts coming about the Moms in the Making conference this past weekend, but I couldn’t wait to share this one. Our team had several surprises throughout the weekend of the conference and the “Renew Her” award was a big one.

This was an award that we wanted to give to one woman who has journeyed through fertility and even struggled, but has continued to keep her eyes on Jesus. The reality is that we could have given every woman there this award, but we really felt like it was important to surprise one woman and honor her, so that we did.

After God made it clear who should receive the award, it took a lot of behind-the-scenes planning. I was in contact with her mother-in-law through email, text and a phone call. Our team was also in contact with her husband, who decided to drive in and surprise her all the way from Houston.

After Melanie, our MC, came out in a wonder woman costume and I introduced the award, we started the video. And well, there is no need to type out her story, because this video we put together, which is below, will do just that. After we played the video, we brought the recipient, Maggie, up on stage where she was even more surprised because her husband was there. We gave her $500+ worth of gifts and then prayed over her. Oh, and we had rigged that she win a “makeover” that Saturday morning so she could feel all dolled up when she was on stage. Our hope was that she felt love and if she ever had doubts before, knew how much God was for her and was so proud of her for journeying well.

Oh my gosh. I wept hearing Maggie’s story. What a heartbreaking journey she’s been through, and yet how awesome that they are opening their homes to kids who need a home. I pray for their home to be filled with joy and laughter and children, and for their hearts to be healed.

It is always a testament to the power of Jesus when someone suffers such devastating loss and still praises Him. Beautiful!

This posted during the week I moved, so I missed it. What an incredibly moving story and inspiring faith. Thank you for sharing this story and for honoring Maggie and her family. I pray the Lord blesses their courage and willingness to open their hearts and their home.
