Guest Post: The Special Sauce You Carry
It’s such an honor to have Jessica from Grace While We Wait post on my blog while I am in California. Jessica and I met through instagram and she has become one of my very best friends. Once you read her post, you will understand just why I love her so much. I hope what she shares below open your eyes to recognize not only the special sauce you carry, but the special sauce those around you carry too.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the illustration of “special sauce.” Leif Hetland talked about “special sauce” and how it radically changed the way he operates in the Kingdom at a conference several months ago at our church. I wanted to stand up, wave my hands around, and run around my church like a crazy lady, because he finally gave language to what has been stirring in my heart for so long.
The deeper I journey into the heart of the Father, the more revelation I have on my true identity, His daughter. Stepping into that identity, has changed every single thing about my life. I am not the same girl I was several years ago, because that other girl knew Jesus, but lived as an orphan. Walking in my true identity as the Father’s daughter, that I have His inheritance, it’s His blood that now runs through my veins, and His kind eyes of approval over me is now what truly makes me, me. And the more I am learning about who I really am, because of Jesus, the more free I am to be me. The more I believe what my Father says about me, the more, ME, I get to become. Identity is something I will never stop talking about, because it has radically changed my life.
I don’t know about you, but growing up, especially in high school, I wanted to be the girl everyone loved. I was the cheerleading captain, I made good grades, and had great friends. But I still looked at other girls and told myself I would never be like them, as pretty as them, as smart as them, as sweet as them, as successful as they were. Because I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t know what my Papa said about me.
But since I’ve stepped into this revelation, of who the Father says I am, I now get to see what Father says about others too. Do you realize there has never been another YOU? There will never be another YOU! No one else on this planet has your creativity, or your giftings, or your assignment and destiny! That’s why you’re Papa’s favorite! Because there has never been or ever will be another like YOU! Let that sink in, the Creator of heaven and earth, the King of the universe calls YOU His favorite!
That’s why you don’t have to look to the left or right to see how she is doing life over there. You don’t have to get jealous or envy what God is doing in someone else’s life. You don’t have to compete with what someone else is doing. You don’t have to copy someone else or get ideas from them, because God has created YOU with a special sauce that only you have and the Body of Christ desperately needs.
Caroline and Lauren are two of my very dear friends. If you look at us through the eyes of the world, it would seem as if we would be in competition of each other. We all three have very similar ministries, and for the most part, we’re doing the same thing in the Kingdom. But here’s the thing… Caroline has amazing giftings, callings, and an assignment unique to Caroline. She has life experiences that Lauren and me do not have. It is the same for both Lauren and I, we carry something uniquely different that Caroline carries. We each carry something the other doesn’t.
But do you know what? Caroline and Lauren NEED the sauce I carry. And I desperately need what they carry too! So when we each understand our true identity, walk in our unique callings and giftings the Father has given us, and bring those together it makes the best soup ever!
I add my special sauce, Caroline dabs a little of hers, and Lauren stirs hers in, we have the recipe for FIRE in the Kingdom of God and the community we serve. Because we are each doing our part in the Body. Everyone has a part to play.
“Just as the human body is one, though it has many parts that together form one body, so too is Christ. For by one Spirit we all were immersed and mingled into one single body. And no matter our status—whether we are Jews or non-Jews, oppressed or free—we are all privileged to drink deeply of the same Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 TPT
Maybe you struggle with comparison or competition or jealousy. It’s okay, I used to struggle with those too. It just means you don’t have a true revelation of who Papa God says you are. If you have to write it on your mirror with lipstick, or tape it to your coffee pot, get the truth of the Word deep down into your heart to take root. Remind yourself that you are the Father’s daughter, there is not another you, and YOU are His favorite.
And then walk in that identity.
Because we all need your special sauce.
The Body of Christ desperately needs what you carry!
