03 Jul Essential Oils: Part 8: Frankincense
Today I’m sharing about one of the most popular essential oils, frankincense, which has an earthy, balsamic aroma. It is a great oil to use to support healthy skin, support a healthy immune system, focus the mind and overcome stress. We used frankincense daily to apply it to Colby’s two scars after his skin cancer surgery, and it helped speed up the healing process. There is research being done for the healing effects frankincense has on cancer and if you are interested you can watch a video on that topic here.
Below are several ways to use frankincense and while this list isn’t exhaustive, it should give you an idea of some of the benefits:
- Remove Sun Spots – Apply 1-2 drops to spot
- Renew Skin – Apply 1-2 drops to area
- Wrinkles/Acne – Apply 1-2 drops to spot
- Stretch Marks – Apply 1-2 drops to spot
- Calm the mind – Diffuse or sniff
- Healthy nails – Digest 1-2 drops
- Immune Support – Diffuse or apply 1-2 drops to feet
- Scarring – Apply 1-2 drops to scar
- Arthritis – Massage 1-2 drops on joints or diffuse

Posted at 06:29h, 03 JulyVery interesting to read! I am about to start adding this oil into my regime in a couple of weeks. I have heard from some other lymies that it can cause MAJOR herxing so it must be powerful!! I will be starting off very slow and not adding it to my feet for a couple of months but am excited to see how this will help in the healing process! Thanks for sharing friend!
Blessings,
Rebecca 🙂

Posted at 07:42h, 03 JulyI have heard wonderful things about frankincense! I didn’t know that about the acne or scars though- I really just need to get me some already!

Posted at 09:36h, 03 JulyI recently started using this on my skin for acne and scarring. My question is: is it safe to put directly on the skin, or do you have to use a carrier oil? The bottle I got is already diluted with another oil, so I wonder how effective it will be.

Posted at 10:47h, 03 JulyI am super skeptical of oils, but can’t hurt to try I guess. Sounds like I need to get some frankincense. Immune support and scars alone would be worth it!

Posted at 10:57h, 03 JulySuch an interesting read! I just got into essential oils. My yoga instructor came back from a trip to New Zealand and shared some lavender essential oil with us. It was so nice! I’ll definitely give frankincense a shot.

Posted at 10:58h, 03 JulyI watched the video, but he didn’t say how to use it to kill the cancer cells. Do you know if it should be topically applied to the specific area where the cancer is located? My niece’s dad has kidney cancer. I was just wondering, should the person put the oil externally on that area, or should it be put on the bottoms of the feet, or taken internally somehow? Any suggestions? I would love to learn more about this! Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂

Posted at 12:25h, 03 JulyFrankincense is a great oil. As a fellow YL distributor I feel I need to warn you to read the new FDA compliant language in the back end of the YL website. I’d hate for you to get into trouble.

Posted at 16:38h, 08 JulyI am SO so intrigued by essential oils, but also – to be completely honest – worried that it’s a bit too “hippy mentality” for me. Isn’t that awful?! I just don’t know anyone nearby that has them or is familiar with them to let me try them out before having to dive all the way in just to give them a shot. Maybe I need to just suck it up and go for it. Eee! Now that I see you’re posting on them semi-regularly, I’ll have to read all your posts and see if it helps me take the leap. 😐

Posted at 13:38h, 09 JulyI love my YL oils! They totally have helped me on our fertility journey. Now that we are expecting baby, do you know of a recipe for stretch marks? Maybe Frankincense + Lavender? If not, I’ll check Pinterest. 🙂
