Our most recent addition to our health products is another Super Food, Maca Powder. Maca is a root-like cruciferous vegetable from the Andes of Peru. It contains 31 different minerals and 60 different nutrients. It helps improve hormones by nourishing the endocrine system, helping both the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands. Maca has been scientifically researched for the use of increasing fertility for both men and women.

Besides boosting fertility, Maca has the following benefits

    I try to eat lots of stuff with DIM…tons of green veggies, but I also take a supplement called Standard Process SP Greens for extra amounts. Very good stuff for fertility!

    Green juices, chlorella, wheatgrass, barley grass, blue green algae. If it’s green I will eat or drink it.

    In our house, we just try to eat about 70% live foods (things that grow from the ground in their original form). Lots of berries and other fruits, veggies, legumes, nuts, seeds, etc. All good for fertility!

    Haven’t really been eating super healthy lately, but this is definitely motivation to start…if not feeling up to par wasn’t enough already! I just might have to give this maca stuff a shot!

    My DH was drinking a jug full of ‘maca water’ (basically he would mix about 16 oz of water with a scoop of Maca) each day. I don’t know how he choked that stuff down with just water each morning. I never tried it. More recently though, he mixed it in a morning shake, and said he couldn’t even taste it. So, I think that is the way to go. We ordered ours online at Vitamin Shoppe, I think.

    I learn from you, Jedi Master, as my super foods are coffee and Oreos (there’s gotta be something scary in them bc they have no dairy, but GOD BLESS THEM for having no dairy! There is still a cookie I can eat! I’m liking my chia seed and flax seed you told me about. Ok now my mom used to try to get me to eat this VILE stuff (she still does) called Green Miracle- who knows what all is in it, but its supposed to be fabulous. Here’s the link.

    Hello from ICLW. I am really interested in boosting fertility through diet as scientifically as possible. Your post on Maca is really interesting. Have you noticed a difference in your fertility (cervical secrections, oveulation day etc.) since you started supplementing your diet. I find the whole concept of nutrition and health so fascinating. I did a post on diet and IVF on my blog and the scientific research was quite consistent and pretty surprising. I really admire your faith; it is so easy to lose sight of the belief that one day it will happen when, at times, it seems so far away.

    Thanks for sharing! As we have just gone through our failed IVF 🙁 and are headed in a new path, I’m soaking up whatever I can about these superfoods and diet changes. I figure that no matter what, a healthier lifestyle is good!

    Hi from ICLW. Oh man this is awesome! When I was still TTC and researching, the only research I could find on Maca was on fertility for cows…haha (very helpful, btw). So glad there is more research out there that it increases human fertility, too. And I LOVE love love wheatgrass…yum! I would drink that even *not* for fertility.

    My friend put her husband on this when they were TTC. She swears it resulted in…errr….. amorous side effects on his side. But now they have a beautiful baby so maybe it helped. Good luck!
