Blue Sock Moments

I mentioned last week that I have been going into our nursery every day to pray for our babies. Colby and I totally believe we are going to be pregnant soon and because of that we are doing what we can now to prepare. One of the things I was excited to do was clean out the nursery (nerd alert). While going through old stuff, I found this blue sock. Obviously this isn’t ours. I was so excited to find it and immediately showed Colby and thanked the Lord. Please don’t say ”what a coincidence”, because we don’t believe in those. NOTHING is coincidental with God. I’ll refer to it as a Godincidence.

A few weeks later, while at Melanie’s baby shower, I was talking to a friend about everything the Lord has been doing. I told her about the blue sock I found and she too was excited. I got an email from her later that day that said,

I keep thinking about the blue baby sock. I wonder if while Abraham was waiting for the promised child if he had some ‘blue sock’ moments, where God so gently and kindly reminded him of the promise and His faithfulness to perform the word He had spoken.

Wow. How sweet and amazing is that? The Lord has overwhelmed us with ‘blue sock’ moments. I’ve been writing every one down, and ended up typing them up the other week and it was 8 pages long. 8 pages of Him blessing us with ‘blue sock’ moments! He has spoiled us so much with His love and continues to remind us of the promised children He has for us!

What are you waiting for? What ‘blue sock’ moments has He given you? When you take time to look and listen, you will start to notice they are all around! I hope you continue to press into Him so you can recognize all the ways He is trying to remind you of His presence and His promises.

what a sweet reminder from God 🙂 I have lots of blue sock moments and I cherish every single one of them. I always get them when I feel myself doubting or thinking the wait is taking too long….God always knows when to send those “blue sock” moments to me

Love that ….blue sock moments. Well, I’m trying to look at every single reminder of pregnancy that I see out in public as a blue sock moment. Instead of being bitter and envious, I’m trying to see that as what is to come in our own future. I won’t lie…it is HARD to flip the script on those moments, but I love this “blue sock” reminder.

God-incidences…love it! I hate when people chalk it up to coincidence or fate. God is working in your life, in ours and nothing happens just by chance. Love your blue sock moment my dear.

Love this. I am still overwhelmed at how God loves on us. I have blue sock moments so often. I received a name in a dream some time ago. Its now the name we chose for the baby we believe we will receive. I often get reminders but the biggest one came when we moved to NY….the name of our building is Olivia. So I take that as a kiss from God and I am reminded everyday. When I was re baptized in August I was talking to a woman and immediately I felt so connected to her. We chatted for nearly an hour before I ever asked her name. A huge Godincidence is that my home church in Florida is really really small and in a remote part of Florida that most people have never heard of. As we were talking I mentioned my church Christ Fellowship and she said in Homestead? I said yes, turns out her brother was the new worship leader at my home church. I called my mom immediately to ask her if she new the ladies brother she said yes I know Eddie. She then asked whats his sister’s name? I looked at the woman and said I never asked your name……she said Olivia. Honestly in that moment preparing to get baptized, being reminded of my home church that I dearly missed, and then hearing the name of the child I am waiting for. I came to tears. Thanks for sharing this Caroline….God is so good.

I love that God did this for you! So cool and encouraging! I bellieve God has reminded me of His faithfulness many times, but I know that I am guilty of forgetting those precious truths. You have inspired me to start keeping track – definitely builds up the faith!

Whoa! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on a entirely different
subject but it has pretty much the same page layout and
    design. Superb choice of colors!

I love this post! But I just got to wonder… What was your first blue sock moment? What I mean is, when did you two first feel/know that God promised you a child? Because I always wonder if we’ll ever have a child, far as I know God hasn’t told me one way or the other. Well I’ve felt He’s told me “not now”, but I don’t know if “not now” will ever go away. When I look at Abraham and Sarah I see how they clearly had a promise from God that they would be parents, but me? I don’t know if we ever will. BTW I’m excited that God is giving you all these reminders of His promise to you!

It’s hard to come by well-informed people for this
topic, however, you seem like you know what you’re talking about!

    Thanks

Woah, I love this post. I have a list typed up of people who are praying for us, and some of our “blue sock” moments. But now I will start writing them down no matter how small I think they might be. Looking back at those things are so encouraging when I’m low.
