Divine Appointment

A divine appointment is a meeting with another person that has been specifically ordered by God. I am sure over the years I have had many of these, but two stand out the most to me. The first, is meeting my airport angel in 2013. And, the second? It happened at the conference I attended two weeks ago.

At the end of the first day, altar prayer was offered to those who wanted it. If you don’t already know this about me, I never turn down prayer, like ever. I can’t tell you how many times we have been prayed for since we started our infertility journey. Even though I usually hop out of my seat to be the first in line when prayer is offered, at the conference I first sought confirmation that the Lord also wanted me to go. When I felt like I got a yes, I asked my friend Melanie (airport angel) to go with me.

Now keep in mind, there are just under 10,000 women at this conference. So, we made our way down and after receiving prayer, we took a different path because we were looking for someone. As we crossed over to the other side of the auditorium, I got a tap on my shoulder followed by the question, “do you have a blog?” “Yes,” I answered. “I have been following your story, and I am so encouraged by your faith, and I am believing for your babies to come,” she said. Cue the ugly cry on my end. Seriously though, it hit the inner core!

Hello divine appointment. Our conversation continued and I found out this girl, who might like most seem like a stranger, but already felt like a friend was named Nicole. She came in town from Ohio and had been following my story. She then shared that she was going through a trial of her own and Melanie and I had the honor to pray for her. We got to encourage her in her own journey with the Lord and of course followed up with a picture and exchanging of numbers.

Can I just say that when you are following God, there are no coincidences. Nicole, all the way from Ohio, had been reading my blog and found me in a crowd of 10,000 people and not only that but was brave enough to take a step of faith to say hi. And where was she sitting? Section 305. Yup, the exact section we were also sitting in.

Do you realize God is always setting you up? Sometimes the encounters might not be as grand, but what about the little ones that happen? The friendly smile you receive at the grocery store that brightens your day or the person in the drive through who pays for your meal. None of these are accidents and yes, it might be on a smaller scale, but aren’t they just as amazing?

I wonder how many of these divine appointments I’ve missed because I wasn’t paying attention. But, what I do know is I am so thankful that both Melanie and Nicole took a step of faith in those moments. Melanie is now one of my very best friends and I know Nicole and I will also continue to keep in contact. Truly, the Lord set up these encounters and there is really no other explanation! Praise him!

Have you ever had a divine encounter? If so, I would love to hear.

I love this 🙂 God is so good! My dad has had a similar situation. He was very very close with his uncle (who was a WW2 vet and was at Pearl Harbor). My dad would spend summers with him, they built a car together, gave him dating advice, etc. So about 10 years ago when his uncle passed he took it very hard. Keep in mind his uncle lived in CA all his life other than when he served in the military and we now live in VA.Well after many years my dad lost his dad, then his mom, then his brother. There was one year it kind of just took its toll on him and he was having a hard time with it. About 2 years ago we urged my dad to get his vet card as he served in the navy so that he could take advantage of all the benefits. And after much reluctance he did and went to Applebee’s to take part in their free lunch day for vets. While he was waiting for his table he saw an old man with a WW2 hat on. So, he asked the man if he served adn thanked him for his service. They got to talking and come to find out this man not only served with my dad’s uncle but he was his best friend and bunk mate. He said that uncle Bob was on his way to meet him when Pearl Harbor started. This “random meeting” seems cool to everyone else and “wow what a great story” but to my family it was God. It was God giving my dad a piece of his uncle who he missed dearly. I love love love the way God works. That he would work out everything leading up to that moment. That man “happened” to live in VA and “happened” to be at the same exact Applebee’s as my dad. I will always be grateful for our Father comforting my dad in that way 🙂

Okay! So two things! This is AWESOME! And, I hope one day we can meet too! But the other part of this response is that I wonder why we are surprised when we are brought together like this? I think for me, it has taken much of my 50 years (so I get a lot of hindsight lol!) to really understand that He really does know every hair on my head. I really am loved and watched over. All of my prayers really are heard. I love that you and Nichole were given such an incredible gift and I think you should brace yourselves because there will be more to come! 😀

Eeeeek!!! I love hearing YOUR version. So awesome!! I still cannot get over it. But I am so thrilled. I am honored to call you my friend. (And Melanie too!) The two of you are such rays of sunshine – and you wear your faith on your sleeve. I love that. Thanks for sharing this on your blog. Honored!! =)

I love when things like that happen. Those random ‘run ins’ … I had that happen at my last half marathon – someone was like, “Are you Rebecca Jo?” Yep – she followed me on Instagram & we’ve ‘chatted’ since & have very similar life issues & I just love when God brings people together. You are so right – its all orchestrated.

… my day would be SOOO made if I was at a conference & saw you walking by. I’d tackle you with a hug – for sure! 😉

Yes, in a way. I feel looking back on my journey through first being married up until now I have had countless friends/work mates be infertile in my life. I didn’t start noticing it until sometime last year. And they have given me such strength in learning about their journey to, and become parents.

And I never take those things for granted, because God was trying to help me understand and gain strength in knowing I am not alone.

This is just wonderful and so amazing!!! I LOVE when God does things like this! So precious to behold His work in our lives! I feel so bad that I haven’t been here in a while. For some odd reason, we stopped getting all blogs in our email again! I have missed reading your posts. I am going to re-subscribe using another email address, and hopefully, this will remedy our problem. Still praying for you, sweet friend. 🙂

Yes I believe fully in divine appointment, I believe that God put you into my life as a beacon of hope and a testament of faith, as a woman who will always encourage me to have faith and trust in Him even when I feel weak or weary. You are such an amazing woman Caroline and I am so thankful for you!
