Greater Movie

GREATER Movie

Colby and I got to have a movie night this weekend and we were so grateful to see a sneak peek of the movie, GREATER. It’s a very inspirational movie and I know it will encourage so many when it’s released in theaters on August 26.

Greater Movie

Greater is a true story about football and faith. I am a huge football fan so I was excited going into the movie, but it totally exceeded my expectations. What I loved so much was the powerful message of the whole movie.

This movie tells the story of Brandon Burlsworth and his football career. I had never heard of Brandon before, but come to find out he is the greatest walk-on player in the history of college football. He went from sitting on the couch and not playing sports at all to not only making the Arkansas team, but receiving a scholarship and being drafted by the Colts.

But this story spans way beyond football. Brandon’s perseverance and dedication to see his dream fulfilled was truly remarkable. Brandon didn’t give up. He was laughed at. He was mocked. He was often looked over, but he kept his eye on his dream and because of his determination he saw his dream come to fruition. Did he have to work hard for it? Absolutely. Did he have to face a lot of adversity? Absolutely. Did he have to overcome impossible circumstances? Yes! But he came out stronger because of it all.

This movie inspired me in so many ways, but specifically in my trials. It’s so easy to want to give up. Others don’t quite understand what the journey of having faith for our babies is like. I get lots of negative comments and have faced more adversity then I knew was possible. But I know that on the other side there will be a reward. Brandon received so much more than he could have hoped for, not only getting a scholarship to his dream school, but also getting drafted in the NFL. His story reminded me to keep pressing on; the pain, the long days, the hurt and the trial will not only make me a stronger person, but will be worth it when my dream of becoming a mom comes true.

Make sure to watch the trailer below and look for GREATER in your local theater on August 26th. You can also find GREATER on social media here:

I almost didn’t want to read beyond the third sentence of your article for fear I’d ruin myself for the movie. I love movies like this, inspiring films with a good message. Definitely mentioning this one to my husband. We actually just watched another Christian football movie the other night.

Oh, wow, we will have to see this one for sure, Lord willing! It sounds like it will be a great encouragement and inspiration in this quest I am on to lose weight. It seems SO insurmountable and totally impossible, and I just feel like the journey is too great and too hard. But, I know God will see me through and make this happen, if I do my best and keep persevering. I have never tried to accomplish anything so difficult, and it feels like I am defeated before I even start….so I am definitely up for a story like this. Thank you for sharing this! And, I loved seeing the peek into your beautiful home!

I’ll have to try this one out. My hubby and I have some friends that we do movie nights with and this seems like a great addition to the list we already have going.

I think we all need these stories of perseverance and dedication to see our dreams through to fruition. It’s normal to feel defeated and stalled at times. We all need a pick me up once in a while.

I’m not a big football fan (more of a baseball gal — Go Rays!). Anyway, I do love “The Blind Side” though. This seems like it will be sort of similar in the emotional department. I will have to rent it on Amazon when it’s available. 🙂

Ooooh thanks! I will definitely add this one to my list. I just saw “Risen” – finally! It was a good movie but a tad bit too graphic at the beginning for younger kids. Still, it inspired me.
