Infertility Support Group

It’s been on my heart for about a year now to start an Infertility Support Group through my church. They currently have tons of recovery and support groups, except they don’t have anything for infertiles. During my spring women’s bible study they mentioned this summer women could create summer studies; crafts, fitness group, book clubs, bible studies, etc. I knew that this was the chance to start a group for infertiles.

Details were handed out in our church bulletin (along with my name on it, so now the church world knows I’m an infertile – totally ok with this) and they were posted on the church website too. They read:

“A group for women who are experiencing infertility and/or miscarriage: We will connect with others with similar experiences as we encourage each other through Scripture. Our goal is for women to know they are not alone and to find hope, encouragement, and purpose.”

So tonight is the first night we are meeting. We had 6 girls sign up. Of course, I’m sure there are more struggling, but I also know it’s a very vulnerable and sensitive topic. I think 6 will be a good number. I’m excited to get to know the girls, spend time in prayer and the word, and encourage each other. We are also going to be reading Pregnant with Hope. I’ve read it once before and look forward to reading it again. It covers everything from feeling desperate to finding hope during infertility.

My prayer is that all the women would find each Wednesday night to be a safe place where they can share their story and feelings. I pray we can all encourage each other to place our ultimate hope and trust in Christ!

When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” Matthew 11:28 – The Message

I am so excited to hear about your first meeting! What a great idea- terrific way to support each other in your church. Blogging is cool, but that must be great to have women in person to talk with, going through similar experiences. I’ll be praying for you all on Wed nights!

Wow, what a wonderful thing you are doing! There is a woman who lives a few hours away from me in Houston (unfortunately) that did this same thing in her church…which happens to be the church I watch on TV each week with pastor Joel Osteen.

Anways, she has a great website and just released a book you could use for topics and devotion if you are interested. Feel free to check it out if you need ideas for things to discuss… http://dancinguponbarrenland.com/

    Enjoy tonight!

This is awesome– I’m so encouraged that six people signed up for it!! I can’t wait to see what comes from this…it could be so comforting just to know that there are 6 other people in real life that GET IT, you know??! Wow! This is so great! I hope it goes really well!!

Wow, that is so great!! I wish I had something like that to go to where I live, I would really enjoy being able to connect with more people locally.

It is so amazing that you’re doing this, and I can’t wait to hear all about it! 🙂

Sensational! I wish there was opportunity for this when we were struggling! But I do have a close friend who has been trying for 2.5 years and the wait for her continues, and her support for me has been the best. Not many people like to talk about infertility, but what a great place to be when you are in your darkest days of struggle, to be able to calls upon these women to pray, listen and support you! xx

Wow! Good for you! I hope you get a good turnout and can have a good support system! We started one at our church too and no one ever really came. I hope this is another really good way to connect for you. 🙂

This is amazing! The Lord is doing great things through you. You are already an encouragement to me, and I know you will be for the women you meet with in real life. I would love to attend a faith-based infertility group, but I would be one of those too shy to sign up, at least at first. Prays for you this summer!

This is awesome, and I’m currently working on the same thing! By working I mean I’m doing the research and finding out what’s the best way to go about this. It’s part of my summer project. I know the meetings are private and confidential, but I’d love to hear what resources you find especially helpful and any tips you glean along the way! May God bless this group!!

What an amazing idea. I just love this. I think you are really brave for putting yourself out there like that and for doing something with your infertility in order to help others. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
