#LetsBeRealTogether
It’s amazing how much has changed over the years as social media has gotten so popular. While there are some really good benefits of all of the social media sites, there are some drawbacks too, especially when it comes to sharing pictures. It’s so easy just to share the edited, good parts of life. So much so that people spend time ‘staging’ pictures: using filters, editing etc. We share the good parts of our lives, but what about the bad, not so pretty moments?
Because of this, I had a desire to create #LetsBeRealTogether. The idea and hope behind this movement is that we share the real moments of our day. Unedited. Unfiltered. Raw. Vulnerable. Real life.
I never want to anyone to think that my life is perfect. It’s far from it. It’s hard. I have bad days. I struggle. Our house is often a mess. I go out in public looking like a mess. The list could go on all day long. And while I get why no one chooses to share these moments (because really, I don’t want or desire to see someones messy life) sometimes it’s nice to set pride aside and share the humble, not so pretty photos as a reminder that we are all human and none of us are perfect.
Join us on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday to be real using #LetsBeRealTogether! While I’m sharing on instagram please feel free to use any outlet to share your real moments!

Posted at 14:19h, 22 JuneI love this idea! So much of my heart in starting a blog is based on this…I want it to be a place where we can be honest about the fact that we all struggle and that is okay. Excited to take part in this! 🙂

Posted at 17:18h, 22 JuneThis is such a good idea. I love this. I wanted to do a future blog post on something about this. We all make our homes and blogging lives look so perfect at times. Thanks for sharing this idea. I hope work doesn’t get in the way of joining you all tomorrow.

Posted at 17:33h, 22 JuneLove this idea! I am definitely very thankful for photo editing but it’s nice to also see the unedited side of things sometimes as well. Thanks for sharing this great idea!

Posted at 04:43h, 23 JuneWhat a great idea! I’m pretty lazy so most of the time I just post what I shoot but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes retouch. I’ll have to give it a try next time it comes around!

Posted at 12:24h, 23 JuneI tend to post as I take the photo, then cringe at the pile of laundry or clutter in the background.

Posted at 13:06h, 23 JuneOh, I love this! I can’t tell you how many times I was going to post a picture on Instagram only to realize that you could tell I had vacuumed in a couple of days. After seeing if I could crop out the mess, I would just not share if I couldn’t. That’s just silly! I’m not the only one with a toy and crumb scatter floor. 🙂 Thanks for this hashtag. I’m looking forward to joining in! 🙂

Posted at 15:56h, 23 JuneLove this idea! It’s so easy to get caught up in others’ top moments that we mistakenly feel our lives are lacking. Thanks for doing your part to expose this problem.

Posted at 22:01h, 23 JuneI absolutely dig this idea – I try to be my authentic self in my social media posts, but naturally it can be hard to even realize when we AREN’T being totally authentic… When you look or feel terrible, or your home is messy or you burn dinner (lol), your first thought typically isn’t “Hey let’s share this with the world!” whereas we usually DO want to show off a little when we do something great, outfit looks fabulous, new makeup is on point, house is totally squeaky clean, or cooked an amazing dish. So, I love the idea of a conscious effort to be real, raw, and pointedly imperfect at least a couple days a month, at least. 🙂

Posted at 21:27h, 24 JuneLove it! I think more people need to be real on social media, and their blogs. I recently changed mine to include the word Chaos in the title because well- whose life doesn’t have some form of Chaos in it! I love reading and seeing real stories of people!

Posted at 02:19h, 25 JuneCan I just say that I love the 2nd and 4th tuesday of every month because of this challenge?? Even if I don’t have anything to post, it is SO refreshing to see real life on my feed instead of the usual perfect pictures that make me feel like I don’t have anything worth posting. Thanks for the encouragement to be real and authentic!

Posted at 10:54h, 25 JuneThis is a great idea! I once had a bit of a series on my blog where every Wednesday, I posted “Mostly Unedited Photos”…or in other words, those messy parts of life. I love doing things like this and still will occasionally. Not posting every day though frees me up to do other things, which I also very much enjoy. Maybe I’ll join in one day just because 🙂

Posted at 13:06h, 25 JuneThis is such a great idea!! I think in the infertility world we do tend to share our bad days as well as good but like you said, in this world of social media I think people mostly just show one side of their lives.
