21 Feb Beaver Creek Colorado Ski Trip #4
Colby and I got back late Sunday night from a skip to Colorado. This is our 4th year to go in a row and it’s the only vacation spot we keep going back to. We just love it that much!
Day 1 + Day 2 – DFW – Denver – Beaver Creek
We flew into Denver on Valentine’s Day and drove up to Beaver Creek where we stayed. We were supposed to ski the following day, on Thursday, with a friend of ours, but the forecast showed snow all day so we skipped that and instead spent the first day watching a lot of Olympics, walking around the village and taking it easy. I love the Olympics, but watching the winter Olympics while it was snowing outside made it that much more cozy.
Day 3 + 4 + 5 – Ski Day
We had 3 days of amazing weather. And by amazing, I mean I was still freezing, but the locals and everyone we talked to said this was the best weather they had all season. It snowed 10 inches the 1st day we arrived so we had lots of fresh powder our 1st day of skiing. In addition, we had 3 days of perfectly sunny skies and although it was very windy, the skiing conditions were just perfect.
Colby’s 1st time to ski was in 2014, our first year to visit Beaver Creek and each year he has gotten better and better which has made it more and more fun.We covered just under 90K vertical feet over the 3 days and had a blast exploring all the trails. I definitely wanted to cover as much ground as we could and I’m so competitive with myself that I wanted to beat last years vertical feet covered, which we did.
I think one of my favorite parts of the trip, besides spending time with Colby and our friend was meeting people on the lift. I just absolutely love talking to people from all over and getting to hear their stories. Everyone we met was just so nice and it was such a blessing to be able to talk to people from all over. Really, anywhere we travel, I think that meeting people and talking to them is always one of my favorite parts. Oh, and I should probably add that drinking hot chocolate was amazing too!
We don’t know what next year holds, but we hope we get to go back.
Have you ever been skiing? If so, do you have a favorite resort you visit?

Posted at 13:02h, 23 MayI’ve never gone skiing, but this place you stayed at reminds me of Falcon Crest Lodge, a place my husband & I stayed at in Canmore, Alberta, Canada on our 10th anniversary roadtrip. Makes me want to go back and explore outside more than we had a chance to!
