Colorado Ski Trip #2

Colby and I got back Monday night (err technically Tuesday morning) from a ski trip to Colorado to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Colby spoiled me the whole week: He cooked all the meals, did all the dishes, and well, let me do absolutely nothing. Not only that, but the Lord totally spoiled us too: we had a free condo to stay in, upgraded seats on both flights, and an upgraded car rental. Yes please to all!

We stayed at Arrowhead in Beaver Creek and were not aware that half of the mountain would be closed, including the lift directly outside our condo (woops). We made the most of the situation, but changed our plans a little and decided to ski at Vail as well since so much of Beaver Creek was closed. We skied one day at Beaver Creek, two days at Vail, and the last day at Beaver Creek, covering 85,000 vertical feet, which I now know is ski talk for how much terrain we covered.

This was Colby’s second time to ski and he was improved so much since last year! The weather was great the first two days, but the third and fourth brought rain, sleet, snow, and little visibility and even with my hand warmers, it was pretty cold! Well, miserable. But, I was on vacation, so no need to complain.

Day 5 – Nature Trail + Preserve

The last day we were super lazy. After a quiet morning, we walked along the Eagle Valley trail. After packing up our stuff, we left the mountains and headed for Denver where we went to the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Refuge. It was super quiet and peaceful and we spent some time driving and walking around before heading to the airport.

I am kind of mad at Beaver Creek lately. I blame Beaver Creek for my sweet husband almost dying a few months ago haha! I mean I know it’s not the ski resort’s fault that he fell in the backcountry and broke his ankle, which then lead to blood clots in his lungs….but it makes me feel better to blame them. HA! 🙂 Glad you had a fun time and got out of Colorado in time….we are getting 4 FEET of snow this weekend!!!!
