11 Sep Michigan
Colby and I just got back from a 5 day trip to Michigan. The main reason we went was to go see my grandma who Colby had never met. However, while there we wanted to see the state as well so our time was split between seeing her and site-seeing the NW coast.
Day 2 – Glen Arbor + Empire
After leaving my grandmas, we headed up North to Glen Arbor. The first afternoon was spent at the beach and relaxing at our bed and breakfast. The views were beautiful and the water was clear (and cold too).
Day 3 – Sand Dune Hiking
We spent the day hiking on the various trails around Glen Arbor. Hiking was much different since it was all sand, which made it harder to walk. We visited the Sleeping Bear Dunes and drove the Pierce Stocking Scenic drive, where I challenged myself to hike down a 450 ft, 45-degree inclined hill that was recommended not to do. I survived and despite what the sign said, it only took 18 minutes. After the drive, we spent the afternoon relaxing at the beach and the evening enjoying the gorgeous sunset and yummy food.
Day 4 – Empire Bluff
Our hike on the 4th day was super quick, just 1.5 miles on the Empire Bluff trail. After enjoying the views the rain came down and we were soaked. But, the views over the lake were gorgeous and despite getting wet, we enjoyed the walk before heading back to see my grandma!
