Two weeks ago Colby and I went on a quick getaway to Ft. Worth. It was something I was really hoping we could do after the conference because the weeks and months leading up to the conference we rarely spent anytime together. By the time it was over it was time to reconnect!

I call this a mini getaway because we went to Ft. Worth. We live in Dallas, so it might seem silly to go to a city that is only 50 miles away, but I hadn’t been to Ft. Worth in years and years and the reality was we probably would have never made time to go unless we set aside a full weekend.

We left Friday afternoon and made the somewhat quick 1 hour drive and went straight to check into our bed and breakfast. I had heard such good things about Lockheart Gables and thankfully they had one room left when I went to book. Clearly it was reserved just for us! When we arrived we got to meet the owners and hear a little of the history before they showed us around the home. Our room was fabulous and we had the most comfortable bed ever with the most comfortable sheets ever. Besides our room, my favorite part was that they had a prayer room. I felt right at home and it was honestly so encouraging to meet hosts that believed in the power of prayer.

Lockheart Gables is known as a romantic bed and breakfast so most people who visit are there to celebrate love! It’s often frequented by newlyweds and couples celebrating their anniversary. Clearly we were just celebrating marriage, but I love how they hosted the environment for couples to not only feel loved but celebrate love too. Look at the cookies we were greeted with. Let’s just say Colby was happy!

Not only did they have cookies, but they had waters, soft drinks and other snacks all throughout the weekend which was a special touch. They also had a delicious breakfast and not only was it delicious but it was delivered to our room both mornings! Only if we could have that kind of service every day, right? One morning we had heart-shaped french toast and the next morning we had heart-shaped pancakes and all of it was so yummy.

Lockheart Gables was in a great location as it was just 10 minutes away from everything we did all weekend. So Friday after checking in we headed towards a lake to walk around a little bit and the views were just gorgeous. I loved seeing all the trees which apparently we don’t get in the city. After that we headed towards downtown Ft Worth and walked around some more. We are two indecisive people so it took a little bit to make a decision but we ended up sitting down to grab dinner before heading back to our room and calling it a night.

Saturday after breakfast we drove to the Fort Worth Center and Refuge and went on two hikes. We have had a ton of rain in Texas so several of the trails were closed but we made the most of it and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We spent a few hours there before heading back to the lake to grab lunch.

That evening before heading out we enjoyed the beautiful yard at the bed and breakfast. I loved the swing and the gorgeous greenery! After taking some pictures we went to Sundance Square which is very popular in Ft. Worth. The weather was perfect so we mainly just walked around and then found a restaurant with an outdoor patio on the rooftop, which is totally up our alley. It was the perfect night.

Sunday after breakfast we found a few more trails and went walking before heading back to downtown to grab lunch and head back to Dallas. It was the perfect getaway and we were so thankful to be spoiled by our bed and breakfast hosts so we could relax and reconnect.
