Palm Springs

Palm Springs

Colby and I just got back from a 5 day trip to Palm Springs. My parents invited us out there and of course we said yes! We were supposed to go with them 3 years ago, however, they made it out there and we got stuck in Dallas due to an ice storm. This time we made it and we had a great trip. There isn’t too much to share, but I am sharing anyways!

Day 1 – Fly to Palm Springs + Pool

The great news about this trip was that not only did we get to spend time with my parents, but my brother, sister-in-law and cute little niece got to spend 1 day with us as well! The first day was super relaxing and of course the best, because my niece was with us.

Day 2 – Pool + Mt. San Jacinto State Park

After a morning at the activity center and then pool we headed to the state park where we rode a rotating gondola to get to the top. It wasn’t my favorite part of the park, but at least it gave great views. After reaching the top we hiked around for about an hour. It was so beautiful at the park, and much cooler then the rests of the trip. This is definitely a highlight of the area, so make sure to visit this area if you ever are in Palm Springs.

Day 3 – Hike the Coachella Valley + Pool

Colby and I headed for the Coachella Valley where we did a 6 mile hike on the Pushawalla Loop. It was extremely hot. There was no shade and the hiking path was in the middle of the desert. The paths weren’t marked very well, so we got a little lost, but thankfully made our way back. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hike again, or at least not when it’s so hot. Oh and did I mention we did not even see 1 person, the whole time? Let’s just say we were glad when we got back to our car.

Day 4 – Hike + Pool + Election Night

We drove into Palm Springs and did the Museum Trail hike, which was one mile up {80 floors} and one mile back down. Again, the hit was intense and the way up was pretty brutal. But, we got great views of the city and the way down was quick and much easier. Colby and I found delicious smoothies after and then met my parents for lunch before heading to the pool. We watched the election that night and realized the perks of being on the west coast and not having to stay up nearly as late as we would have had we been at home!

Day 5 – Walk + Pool + Fly home

Colby and I walked around the resort and got 3 miles in. It was much easier than the hikes we had done and clearly, much more convenient too. We didn’t have much time, but we packed our things up and then got one last visit in at the pool before heading to the airport and back home.

The hikes you went on look so, so beautiful! Palm Springs is on my list. I grew up in California, but have only driven through a couple times. I guess I moved away right around the same time Palm Springs would have appealed to enough of my family. haha

The first hike sounds a little brutal (and to see absolutely no one). However, I truly enjoyed your photos via Instagram! Have a great weekend.

We went to Palm Desert on our honeymoon. There weren’t a lot of activities there, but it was quite close to Palm Springs.

Looks like such a fun trip! I’ve been to Palm Springs once for a church trip and I wasn’t that impressed, but I see now that we obviously didn’t do the right things, Mt. San Jacinto looks amazing! And yes, lol, election night on the west coast is not nearly as bad! 🙂

Such beautiful scenery and I love going on your trip recaps! I’ve heard of Palm Springs, but all the way in Florida it seems like a lifetime away! That sweet niece of yours is a doll, I’m so glad you got some good family time that day.
