Trip to South Carolina

South Carolina In Due Time Blog

Two weeks ago I went to South Carolina to visit my friend Jessica. Jessica and I met through instagram and became very quick friends. The first time I met her was at the 2017 Moms in the Making conference, and then again when she came to Dallas, TX for Heaven Come. She was also our keynote speaker at the 2018 Moms in the Making Conference. Let’s just say my trip to visit her in South Carolina was long overdue.

I flew out on Wednesday to see her and we went to straight to her church because Heidi Baker was speaking at her church both Wednesday and Thursday night which was an amazing experience. Heidi Baker is one of Jessica’s favorite speakers and it was such a joy to be able to hear from her and Will Hart two nights in a row.

Thursday was Jessica’s birthday and it was so fun that I got to be there for it. After going out to brunch with her family, we took photos with her sister for our new PODCAST.

Yes, that is right, we are launching a podcast called A Cup Full of Hope! I encourage you follow us on Facebook and Instagram and you can visit our website too. We don’t have a launch date yet, but encourage you to follow our social media accounts so you can be the first to know of when it launches.

A Cup Full of Hope Podcast

On Friday, Jessica and I made the drive for a girls weekend getaway to Asheville, North Carolina. Colby and I had actually visited a few years ago and loved the area. Since Jessica has three children and we wanted some one-on-one time as well as time to record our podcast, we decided it would be a great place to go.

When we arrived in Asheville we checked into our bed and breakfast for the weekend called the Applewood Manor. We were greeted by the Innkeeper who was so welcoming. He showed us around the bed and breakfast and we got settled into our room, which we absolutely loved. It was perfect for what we needed. Saturday Jessica and I recorded for our podcast all day long. It ended up being quite exhausting and a lot of work, but it was so nice to get some episodes under our belt.

Considering we stayed in our room and recorded all day long, we were so thankful to have a room that had a cozy fire and plenty of space to setup and sit. We were also thankful for the unlimited amount of snacks and beverages that were provided by the Inn. In addition, both Saturday morning and Sunday morning we had a full 3 course breakfast meal with delicious coffee and juices.

The only reason we left the Inn was for food and Friday night we grabbed a quick bite of dinner at the Early Girl Eatery.  After a few days of eating unhealthy food, I was so glad to finally get a salad. The eatery was super casual but had good service. I would recommend it but if you are looking for something fancier for dinner, then I would stop by for breakfast or lunch instead. There whole menu looked delicious, especially their breakfast foods.

On Sunday after eating breakfast at Applewood Manor we drove back to Jessica’s in Greenville and prepared for the Garden, which is the ministry Jessica founded for women going through infertility and/or adoption. I had the honor of being the speaker that night and I shared a little bit of our story as well as some points on marriage. It was such a beautiful evening full of yummy food, worship and encouragement and it was such an honor to be a part of it all. One of our Moms in the Making leaders from Camden drove 2 hours to be there, so it was so good getting to see her in person and chat for a few minutes too.

Jessica and I had a full, non-stop five days but it was so much fun! I was so thankful to have time together, even if we were so on the go the whole time. Despite that we met through Instagram she has become one of my closest friends and I am so thankful we had such a sweet time together.

What a beautiful time of faith and fun! Very excited to hear about the podcast, and how lovely to see an example of social media bringing about something wonderful.
